Don't listen to anything these other people said. They are lying! It is a piece of crap, doesn't shoot straight, is made from recycled balsa wood and improperly treated steel and may be dangerous to shoot. There is also reason to believe the crapy steel is highly radioactive. My god these things were suppose to have been recalled! How you got it I don't know but send it to me for proper disposal immediately. In the past very short exposure to these rifles rendered all men impotent.

Nice Try.

If he believes that, I have some things I want to sell him.

He gave you a nice collectable gun that's fun to shoot and great for hunting. I kill deer all day long at 25 to 100 yards with iron sights....I like scopes too, but it is a good idea to learn iron sights......have fun and be safe....and tell your dad to adopt me if he is giving any more of these away...nice gift! Nice piece of history.

Keep it. It cost you nothing, it's cheap to feed, easy to maintain, and a very good rifle. Plus, as has been pointed out, it has already appreciated in value, and will continue to do so. The only reason I don't regret selling mine is I have buyback rights, and I will be buying it back.

I just saw a 91/59 at a gun show today that looked just like yours for the bargain price of about $240. I guess I should have bought it.

Ok ok, you've convinced me. I'm keeping it! I guess I'll go ahead and clean it up, have the headspace checked, order some ammo, and see how straight it shoots.

Dude your dad gave you the jack pot with that rifle. In all seriousness it is an excelant carbine. I prefer the carbine verity myself actually. Also, don't know if you know it, but 91/59s are a bit of a mystery. They started life as 91/30s but were later cut down to carbine size. They are also a bit of a mystery to many as no one has been able to determine where they were produced or came from. Your dad certainly gave you a unique rifle.

Smart choice on keeping it. I guarantee you it will increase in value faster than anything else you own.
