M44 extractor question

Post by ninjam44 »

Is the brass rim suppose to rise up under the extractor as the bolt moves forward, or does it snap over the rim when the round is in the chamber? Thanks!

Can it do both or not? What is proper and acceptable? Many weapons do not suggest the snap on technique!

The Mosin isn't a controlled feed design like the Mauser. If the rim happens to slide under the extractor, it is purely serendipitious. It was designed to snap over the rim. I have examined extractors that have been in place for a century, and still function fine. Don't worry about it.
