It's in hand and it's a beauty! Now what to do with it? Sell on gunbroker? Look for some kinda trade on another mosin more up my alley (M38, 91/59, finn)?

Re: WTK Value of Imperial Tula Mosin
I'd keep it, but that's just me.
Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place, but I feel like I never see M91's from 1900 to 1914 ish for sale as often as 1890's and post 1915 dated rifles.

Keep it.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Get rid of a MN ?

If at first you don't succeed, reload and try again.

I'm just more of a short barreled guy. An update on the stampings...it doesn't look to be a C. On one side it looks like a K inside a circle and the other side looks like the "pi" sign inside a circle. As far as the stock, I don't see the pine cone nor the W. Just the number 38326.

Re: WTK Value of Imperial Tula Mosin
Before you decide to sell it, go and shoot it. I find the M91's the easiest to shoot and can sit there and shoot them all day long.
If you do decide to sell it. Offer it here in the classifieds first.

Ahhh...that C! I'll do a little research on price and probably post it here within the next week or 2. Again, thanks for the input everyone!

Re: WTK Value of Imperial Tula Mosin
Does that mean that you already own some Mosin carbines? Short barrel Mosins are common. Imperial M91's are all ending up in collector's safes and much harder to find. If you get into the history behind these rifles I can't hardly see how you wouldn't want to keep at least this one, so the day you want to slap yourself for selling it never comes, and that day will come. If you sell it, at least give yourself a good slapping, the kind that says "I'm a dumbass"!kmfl98 wrote:I'm just more of a short barreled guy. An update on the stampings...it doesn't look to be a C. Yes, I have a Romanian and Russian M44. I had a rare M27 that was in a 91/30 stock but sold it. When I own these "collector" rifles, they always sit in the safe and I never want to get them out. I guess i'd rather have 2 "shooters" than 1 "collector". I feel a collectors rifle is more appreciated by someone other than me...

I watch the auctions regularly and I think your observation is correct.lthilsdorf wrote:I'd keep it, but that's just me.

I'm more of a collector than a shooter but I really like both aspects of Mosins. I do like to go to the range with a Mosin M91 and a carbine along with a Berdan and a couple of handguns. But collecting is my calling. I've got a few safe queens but most are ones I have shot.

Re: WTK Value of Imperial Tula Mosin
Many 1892-1900 Mosins were protected in Finnish arsenals, all of my older before 1905 Mosins are Finn marked. WW1 took a heavy toll on rifles, and later the Soviets scrapped the older M91's to use the receivers to make 91/30's. The Balkans region used the hell out of them, most of theirs being 1914-1917 dated rifles.

Re: WTK Value of Imperial Tula Mosin
I was not calling you a dumbass by the way. That was a one size fits all statement for myself regarding several guns that I still slap myself over. 2 different Smith 29 revolvers, a Browning Sweet 16 5 shot semi auto, Ruger Mark II bull barrel, wait a minute! I can't keep on.kmfl98 wrote:Yes, I have a Romanian and Russian M44. I had a rare M27 that was in a 91/30 stock but sold it. Nothing wrong with knowing what you like. Or buying one at a good price to resell. As nice as that is I bet someone here would love to buy it from you if the price is right.
Re: WTK Value of Imperial Tula Mosin
No offense taken. I think we've all sold things in the past we would like to have back. That's just part of it. I think i'm going to put it up for trade but everything I own is for sale for the right price...

Put it in the boards for sale forum, I am surprised these guys aren't sending you PM's already about it.
