SPOOK wrote:This is the rifle I came across. The more I read up on it the more interesting I find it. It is a 1933 Tkka Finnish M27 . All parts match. Any info about it would be appreciated. And as soon as I can figure out how to post a picture, I will.
Welcome to the board, sounds like a nice find, these are not cheap, and they do not come across very often.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Looks like I'm the latest noob. I don't own a Mosin unfortunately. Mostly into SKSs with a few other milsurps tossed into my modest collection. Glad to be a member here.

Welcome to the board, first off read up on the board information pages how to strip down you rifle for cleaning, and how to properly clean it after shooting corrosive primes surplus ammo. How to check your rifles headspace, adjust it's firing pin. Read the older posts on the Mosin board, you will find many tips in there on cleaning.

Glad to be here! I can't believe it took me this long to become a member. I've been collecting Mosins for years. I don't have a problem/addiction. I only have about 10 Mosins currently, and I've only owned around 200 in my life. See? I can quit anytime!! Looking forward to being part of the family!

I have been a longtime shooter and collector of muzzleloaders; long guns, pistols and revolvers.
Recently bought a Mosin Nagant from Cabela's. This is the first center fire gun I've ever owned and boy is it a hoot to shoot!
When I bought it, I got 1 box of ammo and the following day my grandson shot those up, we went to our local Gunshop and bought another box and promptly shot them up.
This gun is quite accurate and easy to shoot, compared to my blackpowder guns.
A case of surplus Russian ammo (880 rds) arrived two days ago. This will take the cost of shooting from around a buck per round to less than a quarter. Makes shooting that much more enjoyable!
Great website, I hope to spend some time here, learning all I can about these neat old guns.
Incidentally, my gun was made in 1933.

Welcome to the board, buck a round? Ouch! That is commercial grade ammo non surplus I take it ( I hope anyway at that price) Remember to wash out that bore prior to regular cleaning to remove the corrosive salts that surplus ammo will leave behind. That shouldn't be hard for you coming from black powder shooting. No soap and scrubbing needed, just a quart of boiling water down the pipe and then once it cools a little hit it with Hoppes, or whatever solvent you use just like any rifle. Like the BP shooters do not spare the oil when you store it away, oil that bore well.
