Dad's old Remington 511 Scoremaster
Dad's old Remington 511 Scoremaster
Thought I'd share pix of the first rifle I ever shot. Dad (USCG) and my big brother (USMC) taught me how to shoot from the prone position. I also learned firearms safety and cleaning. Dad gave the rifle to me a few years back, along with his original Outers cleaning kit in the red metal box. Dad also gave me his Czech CZ27 (see pistol forum), the first pistol I ever shot. Now my wife and son and daughter have each fired, as their first weapons, the first 2 I ever shot! Dad is gone, but the memories and the weapons will be around for a long time. Date code on the 511 is April 1946. Dad got it new when he was a teenager. Came with original 6-rd magazine.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

SWEET! Well kept rifle. Keep it that way. Your dad would be proud of you!

I have a 1949 and I love it. The only thing I did when I got it was clean it and put a white line spacer on the but. They shoot rel good.

Amazing how an object like an old rifle becomes part of a family's history. Very cool story.

My Son's and Grandson's and one Granddaughter will get all my guns when I pass. I already made a list on how to distribute them, and I will up date the list as I add gun's. Oh and yes my granddaughter is a redneck girl.

Great plan, Buckhead. Hopefully they will cherish the weapons and the time they spent with you. I know I did & I'm hoping for the same from my kids & grand kids. There's nothing better than telling stories of goin shooting with Dad or Grandad.
