OK, here's mine, in no particular order:

Mosin-Nagant 91/30
Mosin-Nagant M44
Swiss Karbiner 31
Yugoslavian M24/47
Russian SKS

All because they're affordable, and pretty darn accurate by most accounts.

1. Buy my Turkish Mauser back
2. Buy my Sestroryetsk back
3. Buy my 91/59 back
4. Buy my Win. 94 back
5. Buy my .223 back
and
6. Buy my Ithaca 37 back

Then I can think about the ones I've wanted to add:

1. .45 ACP revolver, preferably Colt 1917, but Smith 1917, 25, 625, 325, or Taurus Stellar Tracker would be fine also.
2. .300 Win. Mag. or .338 Lapua long range rifle.
3. M1 Garand
4. Gew 98, preferably Spandau.
5. Hetzer Double Tap .45 ACP pistol.

Dang Entropy, I feel for you buddy. Most of us has sold some that we want back. Or had them stolen.
Jdh, that is a "realistic" top 5 like the title says. You have a good chance of finding those. Good luck.

etprescottazusa91 wrote:1. Original WWII era 1911 preferably a Remington Rand
2. Luger
3. Original GI bringback K98
4. Type 99 Arisaka as complete as possible, mum, matching, aircraft sights, monopod, dust cover. Does not have to have everything listed though pretty much
about in this order.
5. Springfield's

Alternates, will probably find these first
A. MAS 49/56 7.5 French
B. Ljungman AG-42

This is what I'm working on now, I've set my sights high but this is what I want to find at prices that I can work with. Always subject to change, never know when I'll run across a really nice SA marked Model 91

I have a line on the Arisaka 99 mentioned above, consignment gun at a local shop for $600.00 same day I found a beautiful just beautiful 1884 model Trapdoor, both rifles are in lifetime keeper condition. I think I can work a deal on one next week, though it's a lot more pricey I want that Trapdoor the most though I'll probably have sell or trade something off to get this one.

Really don't know I just got into older guns recently.

My uncle back in the 50's & 60's had a large collection (no one knows exactly what he had) that was stolen in 1987 after he died in 1975 and his wife got remarried.

My cousin ( his only child) came home from tech one day and caught the people stealing them. He sent some 30-06 in their direction but they still got away with 50+ guns.

The only guns not stolen was a few at my grandparents house no one but them knew about and 2 hunting rifles my cousin had in his truck.

I currently own

1943 Izhevsk M91/30
1956 Chinese type 56 ghost SKS
1943 Smith-corona 1903A3 sporterized ( one that was at my grandparents house).

Sestroryetsk M91/38
M91 Mosin with wood crossbolt
Remington Rolling Block .22

That's about it for me but I'm always on the lookout for unusual M91 mosins.

Sestroryetsk M91/38... Saw one sell on Gunbroker a while back... Damn good money if I recall correctly.

But I wouldn't mind one as well. Add that to my list! :vcool:

Good lists so far guys.
Remember the guidelines for this thread.
Items you are likely to find, or know you can purchase that is within your budget.
Timeframe is within a rear or so.
Usually the first type of firearm you look for when at the LGS or show, because it is really what you want to get next.
Top 5.

Thanks

Top 5 reasonable purchases in the next year would be:

1) RC K98k - Purchasing Soon!
2) Finn capture 91/30 (Tula)
3) RC K98k
4) Finn capture 91/30 (any Factory)
5) M1 Carbine

I try to limit my purchases to several types of rifles only or else there is simply too much to buy! Of course, this policy is much easier written down than in practice.
