Are there any gun cases that provide protection to Mosin M39 rife while having some storage aspects that were OFFICIAL Designs / used with M39's?
If so, What were they called, what did they look like, and any idea where to get....even if newer reproductions?
Want a decent way to transport and hope to avoid just picking best value of modern at MidwayUSA or where ever.
Thanks

Nope. Just the best value of modern. When I bought my m39 the seller shipped it in a 20.00 Plano hardcase. The hardcase came in a box so it shipped perfectly safe. Not secure though, like a airline approved locking case. A trip to the Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, Cabela's, Academy Sports, Midway USA, etc.... May leave you confused, but they are kind of cool to look at. I would use a case for transport only, and not for storage due to their tendency to trap moisture. I once ruined a couple of guns by keeping them in a soft case.

Thanks for response.

Make sure not to store the rifle in the case for a long time or it will rust.

That is surely great advice!

If you have a moisture controlled room any case will work for short periods. I just open one snap and shove a pencil in the breach it makes and rifles stay in there for long periods of time occasionally. I also store in that room with padded soft cases and those soft cases will also occupy the safes which have golden rods for long periods of time too. Temperature if you have controlled humidity seems to be secondary as my rooms get into the lower 50's in the winter and then during the day hit the 60's. This is with limited electric heat in the Winter and air-conditioning in the Summer. I live in the hills of WV and we do see some moist conditions at certain times of the year. Large temperature changes from night to day really have a great effect on rifles so anyway you can knock those temperature changes down will help greatly. If in the Winter you can keep a temperature change from night to day in the 5 to 10 degree range and can control the humidity you should be fine in any cases I have found. If you live in the south in the land of high temperatures and humidity throw all I have said away. It can be a big problem down there at times. I know people say not to store in hard cases but if you don't waltz in and out of there twice a day with them and control the temperature and humidity of where you store things there is a lot more latitude in that.
