Re: SVT 40 US import opportunity
You ever own a custom Kentucky long rifle? A lot more work goes into making one than a basic Mosin. Just tuning the lock required more man hours than Izhevsk spent building 15 Mosins.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I would venture the mechanism on a wheel lock was even more difficult to produce.Junk Yard Dog wrote:You ever own a custom Kentucky long rifle? A lot more work goes into making one than a basic Mosin. Just tuning the lock required more man hours than Izhevsk spent building 15 Mosins.

Very complex, only the rich could afford one, they tended to break, or you would lose the key, the flintlock was 1000 times better, the wheellock didn't even use flint, it used iron pyrite. It was another stepping stone in the history of firearms evolution.soylentblue wrote:I would venture the mechanism on a wheel lock was even more difficult to produce.Junk Yard Dog wrote:You ever own a custom Kentucky long rifle? That is amazing that you mention the Kentucky long rifle!! I was just getting into bed, and I was going to Google that to do some research before going to sleep!
I thought about the Kentucky long rifle by watching these Pakistan gun makers today...simply amazing you posted this.
Not to mention, I will be receiving my Kentucky Colonel next week!!!! See below for proof! I was born in Kentucky, so I'm very proud!
Hi Danny,
Your Colonel is being processed and will be dropped in the mail to you this week. Let me know if you do not receive it by the end of next week so that I can follow-up.
