S&W 39-2 ASP Custom 9mm

Post by NETNshawn »

Does anyone have any input on this pistol? I have a opportunity to buy one and with a quick internet search it seems to be a sought after gun.

The S&W M-39 was the first semi auto issued in large numbers to a major police agency (Illinois State if I remember correctly) The ASP was a "Chopped and Melted" version with some "new and improved" sight set up. Guns and Ammo magazine was all 'a ga-ga" over it. If you have the spare coin and it's in nice shape you will do alright with it as long as you don't over pay. :2cents:
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Man that thing has been rode hard and put away wet :big shock: .......That being said a decent refinish will make it look better than new. Did you get to give it a "test run' before buying :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

That is a MODERN Working pistol and should not have gotten to that condition. There is no reason the previous owner should have neglected it so that it ended up looking as it does.

Pretty neat! I have never heard of these. It doesn't look too bad to me. I would probably keep it as it is. Interesting sights too.
Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

The sights were one of the big selling points, but personally it looks pretty beat for a pistol less than 30 years old.
