With all the recent M44 posts I figured I would share my newest addition. This is a 1947 Izhevsk M44. I picked this one up recently for well under $200 with the idea of reselling it. I haven't ever been much into the M44 models. Honestly though, once I looked it over a bit I just can't bring myself to get rid of this one. It has a beautiful stock on it with the serial number on the side of the butt stock. The bore is absolutely immaculate, nice and shiny with perfect looking rifling. All numbers are matching (to include the cryllic prefixes) except for the bolt which I think was electro-penciled? Every single mark I can find on this rifle is Izhevsk. Perhaps it was refurbed, I do not know, but either way this is a great rifle and an uncommon one at that. Here are some pics for your enjoyment.
Nice. Looks like they had to replace the bolt body on it.

It really does doesn't it! I wonder why it's this color, did they use a different wood, a different finish? I am guessing this is a laminate, though not as obvious lines as others.

It looks very similar in some ways to my blond-ish 1940 Tula, though yours is much more blond. It looks like the fore-end and maybe a few nooks and crannies of it is darker, like it was had a regular coat of shellac but they scrubbed it down during refurb and decided to go more blond with it. That's my best guess as to what happened with my '40. Either way, that's a fine looking rifle! I haven't seen too many of the lighter stocks in person. First one I came across I bought!

Nice, I believe someone we know looked for a long time before finding a 1947 M44
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

I have not obtained an M44 yet but if I saw that carbine I would have to have it! It is a very nice example and a more sought after year.

Good score! Looks like you scored an older handguard with brass ends as well! My first Mosin is a 1947 M44 as well. It does not apear to have ever been issued. Very low production numbers that year I believe. Definitely keep that one.

Mine was made in 1944 and has all the proof marks as yours and more but, no serial number on the stock? Even the stock finish looks original on mine.
