High Standard made that one for Sears, they made good, solid guns

They are good guns. I got one as a boxfull of rusty pieces. It needed some love, but it is great now.

Good looking shotgun!
Let me make a short, open, blanket comment. There are no good guns. There are no bad guns. Any gun in the hands of a bad man is a bad thing. Any gun in the hands of a descent person is no threat to anyone--- except bad people. -- Charleton Heston

Guns are not good, they are not evil. Save those descriptions for the people holding the firearm. -- Unknown

The old J.C. Higgins were good, long lasting guns. I have a Model 88 .22 pistol from 1955 or 1956 and it still shoots great.

The reason that the Higgins guns were so good is that they were produced by such makers as High Standard, Winchester, and other well known names. Sears used the JC Higgins name until the early 1960's on .22's, rifles, shotguns of all types as well as other sporting gear. I love finding these at the flea market because they will have cheap prices on them put there by people who have no idea they are selling a Winchester. They think it's some POS store brand gun when nothing could be farther from the truth.

Model 20.....my first shotgun!

Mine has the bird cage choke on it. Three screw in chokes for it.
As all my firearms, I still have it!
