Simth Corona 03-A3, Fresh from Rearsenal

Post by martin08 »

Yep, this baby is just like it came from the refurbishment line yesterday. I picked this up a couple of months ago with a few other US military rifles. I haven't had the heart to wipe down the cosmoline, so I'm not sure how it shoots. Not many left like this one.

Enough yakking. Some pics for you all, and thanks for looking.

Want to know how it shoots? Very, very, well, that's how :) The 03A3 is a marksmans rifle, it's no accident that the military shooting teams used them for so long, and did so well with them. Mine are among the best shooters I own, only the Finn M39's come close to them . Very nice rifle, now clean it off and take it to the range 8-) 8-) 8-)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Ah, but I have a Remington shooter already. Sometimes, I just can't bring myself to clear the vault of the sweet smell of cosmoline.

They sell cosmoline in a spray can now, I use it to store my rifles away when they are not in use, just spray some around the vault, around the room, all over the house, and your hotel room after the ol' Lady finds out what you did and tosses you out  Now you know we gonna want to see pics of that Remington '03

I may have to get some. I'll even have a can in the bathroom... Make a stink, spray some cosmo! The wife will love it. Image

I don't know??? I haven't shot one with the sight hood.

I have shot this Remington, as JYD has requested to see. It busts up clay pigeons on the berm quite nicely. I haven't benched it yet.

This came to my front door last February from a neighborhood kid who needed $125 for an old military rifle, so he could buy engine parts for his snow-mobile. I paid him what he was asking! Shortly afterward, I picked up a de-milled gun from SOG for $170, swapped out the stock and resold the de-milled one with the chopped stock for $115. So, my Remington shooter has under $200 invested.

My other rearsenal Remington in mint condition, bought in the same package as the Smith Corona above, will be another story for another thread. But they do look nice together.

I've also located the Cosmoline in a Can. I just substituted it for my wife's hair spray this morning. I'll let you know how that turns out, if the hotel has WI-FI, that is.

Martin let me compliment your rifle while you are still breathing. Your wife may put you in the hospital, not a hotel. YOW!
