BSA Rimfire Riflescope

Post by bunkysdad »

I am just not sure what I want to do with this yet, but I received my Sportsmans Guide flyer recently and they had a special on this BSA Sweet 22 scope that I just could not pass up. It comes with 3 top turrets for 36 gr, 38 gr, and 40 gr 22LR bullets. The scope is specially designed for rimfire and it is supposed to be zero'd in at 50 yards, then with the appropriate turret installed the bullet is supposed to be dialed right in on target with the known distance dialed in. We shall see how well it works. I am very impressed with the quality feel of this scope. Even the lense cover caps are threaded alluminum and the turets are alluminum as well. with the 40mm variable objective lense, the sight is very crisp and clear. I have only got one rifle that I would likely put it on, which is my Ruger 10-22 at the moment. I just don't want to drill the receiver on my old Remington bolt action, as it was made sometime around 1940. Besides a modern scope on an old pre-war rifle just doesn't look right to me.

I have had pretty good luck with BSA scopes. Their warranty service is good as well. I sent in an old target scope with elevation problems. I had no receipt or proof of purchase, but they sent me a brand new replacement, no questions asked. Total time from me sending it, to a new one at my door, was 12 days.

Nothing wrong with buying a scope without an idea what rifle to put it on, I once bought a WW1 Enfield rifle scope and I don't own any Enfield snipers.....but one day....who knows 8-)
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

BD - I do not own any BSA scopes but also have heard positive reviews on them. And, I am *quite* sure that you don't want to drill the receiver on your vintage Remington :o . If original, they can command big $$$$ depending on the specific model.

I have done something similar. I buy the ammo then look for the gun to go with it since I already have the ammo. :D
