Discussion of the SKS platform of semi auto rifles

Here's my newest Russian. It's a bit different of a refurb. The original stock is still with it,and there are no refurb stamps anywhere on it. The stock has been sanded, which removed everything but the Tula star, date and serial number. The trigger group has been replaced, which is the only indication of a refurb.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Nice. I looked at a '51 Tula today at the gun show for $450. I didn't know enough about them, so I passed. Still kicking myself for not buying the Russian SKS in the shipping box with all the extras last year..........for $405 Oh well. I guess I need to visit the Semi Auto forums more often. That is a very good looking SKS.
Nice SKS there. I keep looking for a nice one but stuff gets in they way. Like the Romanian TT-33 I just had to replace after selling mine last summer.
He is lucky! He lives far up North, they call it Canada. Land of the cheap Russians that are imported every day. Lucky guy!!!!
Woodbeef, I suppose you got it for $200 Canadian or perhaps less with your connections my friend!

The Russian SKS is a fine piece of equipment... Everyone should have at least one.
I agree, but Woodbeef seems to have a house full, garage full, shed full, and his sled dog had to move out of his house cause Sean needed
more darn storage space. Poor dog.
This is an unusual sighting as far as refurbs go. Usually you will see an X'd out number, and the force match number stamped below. I don't recall seeing the same matching stock going back on a gun during refurbishment.
It must have been that one in a thousand that came to the stock fitter, and he just happened to pull the matching stock from the barrel, said to himself, "Hmm, no need to X-out this one. Now I have time for a mini-vodka break."

I think it was $165.90 for this one out the door. Another shipment came in last week, and Westrifle has one inbound too.

Well actually there has been a price increase this time. The hardwoods are going for $169.99 and the laminates are $189.99
WoodBeef, you have to know I will eventually get even with you for torturing me. If I have too, I will promote invading your Province and
I will take those back home with me.
