M27 Finns are definitely not a dime a dozen and are well worth keeping I bet it is a nice shooter and selling it is bound to lead to remorse so unless you have more than one you might be sorry if you sell it I gotta tell ya that that is a nice looking rifle thank you for showing it because M27's are among the favorites around here

Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
yes its a nice Shooter i only had 5 rounds SP, im ordering 880 rounds For $200 so till they get here i only have 5 rounds And only shot it once i had it on 300 meters ( on the sight setting) and shoulda put it on 200 instead ( Didnt Realize it till after shot ) and it shot about 10 inches high So im guessing at the 200 meter notch it woulda hit level it did shoot 3/4 " to right maybe wind ?.... im normally a good shot so. coulda been human error too and that was a 175 yard shot at a half dollar with the iron sights .. SO i Really Agree With The Finnish Being More Fine Tunned And i swear i didn't Fool with the sights at all that was just a Key Turn shot .

Also does the Brass Disc Really help the Value And does anyone have a Clue as to what kkknr 149 stood for ? Neighbor Told me Hes Never SEEN one With the Disc And He is a Avid Gun Collector And has about 3 mosins himself .
Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
That rifle is not worth what it would cost to ship but SINCE I LIKE YOU, I in the effort to be a NICE GUY!!!!! will swap you a a new and improved Izhevsk M91/30 made by Sergi Mosin while on his death bed and assisted by Emile Nagant from beyond the grave. This one in a life time special was looked at by Nikita Khrushchev and fondled by Vasily Zaitsev and Pavel Petrovich Gogol. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
umm i dont know if your being sarcastic or what im new to the mosin Family and only Reason i got this gun was so my Youngest son had a Deer rifle i dont know who Izhevsky is or Sergi or the other names you mentioned But but sounds like your Bashing this gun in saying isnt worth the cost to ship, IMO A gun that Shoots as Good as this and has Readily Available Ammo cheep as the 7.62.54 is worth a 30 dollar shipping fee. im sorry if i misunderstood you but im Really clueless as to value ... as i only paid $100 dollars for it for my youngest son to have a hunting rifle i dont need a wall hanger I already Have A 1876 Parker Bro 12 gauge double barrel shotgun with uplifter Rabbit Ears, (hammers ) Grade 0 thats a wall hanger
Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
If the badge plate picture was clear and I could read what it says we could tell you the arsenal and of course the year is the date on it. The brass disc is the unit designation in the Finnish army and the SA marking refers to the Finnish Army. The M27 with a unit disc is dam hard to find and I would suggest you buy a cheaper refurb for a Son's deer rifle. You stole that rifle at $100 and when people see this post you will like as not get offers of buying it for twice plus what you paid. By the way Ironwert was only teasing because he is deathly jealous of the rifle you found and the price you paid. So do not take his post to seriously as he was crying in his beer when he wrote it I am sure!
By the look of the bolt it has not the original winged connector that most of these came with especially the early unit disc ones. The winged connector bar had a tendency to hang the bolt up in the mud and dirt of the battlefield so it was replaced with the one you have in there now. The front band does not have the popsicle stick modification that the Finns used to strengthen the front which often broke when the bayonet was deployed and used on the rifle. Does the front band have a closed metal front or is it open and shows the wood through it?
Very conservatively there I would say you have a $500 plus rifle and it should not be modified or improved in anyway to hold that value. Another words no cleaning or refinishing and such should be done. I would say doubtlessly you will be getting emails with offers for that much and more. I like others on here believe the rifle is to shoot and a mild hunting experience where the rifle is not endangered would not excite me too much. Many on here will have a bird if you take that rifle hunting. I only will caution you by saying parts on there are not replaceable so be careful screws which I would scotch tape over to hold them in place before even a range trip again. I congratulate you for searching out info on the valuable collector rifle you have apparently stumbled on to. Oh and my cash offer will be in your email, Only Kidding! Bill

Re: Vs: My Finnish Mosin M27
Please post a good photo of the disk. Kkknr does not mean nothing.
But KKK means "konekiväärikomppania"=MG Company. The number is the rifle "serial" number of the certain MG company.
Brass discs are pre war discs. The rifles with the discs belonged originally to the garrison weaponry used in peace time training of conscripts.

The more I stare at the badge plate pictures the more I think I see a diamond and VKT in there making that rifle possibly dang near impossible to find as that arsenal made very few of them. If this is true I will be sending an offer!

Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
If that's a '35 VKT with brass unit disc, it's worth over $1000.
I'd bet closer to $1300.
Don't let anyone talk you into less.

Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
WHOA! Please try and post more/better pic.s. Would love to see more detail on that one!
Looks like it is a 1935 Vk.T M27 serial# 2507? If so it is only 9 units away from the one in my collection.

Very interesting the two different paths these two must have taken.

I sure hope you didn't get mad at the joking reply and are monitoring what we are writing and posting here. For heavens sake don't trade that rifle or sell it for less than it is worth. Unless it is to me of course! More pictures please! beg of you to indulge us a bit! Bill

Bugelson wrote:Brass discs are pre war discs.
Again, not entirely accurate, at least as worded.
Possibly this would be more correct if worded "brass unit disc on model M27 and M91" are prewar disc?
According to another source of information out of Finland there are also postwar brass unit disc.
At least some of those brass disc have the unit designation "HämRjP = Hämeen Ratsujääkäri Pataljoona = Häme Cavalry Jaeger Battalion", a post war unit.
Of course I don't speak the language so I'll have to defer to the experts and can only go by what I read printed in English.
Re: My Finnish Mosin M27
Then there are the aluminum unit discs and frankly off the top of my head I don't remember when they came about. They were mostly issued in antiaircraft units as I recall. That is also where a lot of the Terni or Carcano rifles went too. Billbb91 wrote:Bugelson wrote:Brass discs are pre war discs.

Very nice M27! If that one fell into my collection, it would never leave! I would take that one over a Russian M91/30 any day of the week.

If that is a vtk, it is very valuable, and a once in a lifetime find.

Hey, yes you are the new guy, but look how fast you got to meet the ironnewt! Of course he wasn't bashing your rifle. Quite the opposite. He likes it and was making a funny. Nobody has ever traded him yet, but he has fun trying.

If you will take some time to get some really nice detailed photos, you could have your rifle displayed in our Forum Showcase. It's our little virtual museum of nice rifles owned by forum members.
