I recently acquired this M28/30 and externally its a in very good to excellent condition. 90%+ bluing, numbers matching on bolt, reciver, and buttplate. Best Finnish trigger I have ever felt to date. I'm having a hard time with it because the bore is in good-fair condtion. There's still rifling, but its moderatly frosted and I'm not sure I want to keep it becuase of that reason alone. I know rifles can still be shooters in this condition, especially with cast boolits, but I'm not sure I want to take those chances on a rifle I feel a paid a hefty amount for. ($600) It was advertised as having a "excellent bore 9/10 bright and shinny", but I totally disagree. My collector side is telling me to keep it but my shooter side is telling me to send it back. Does anyone know why it has no Civil Guard District markings? Thanks
Shoot if with regular ammo and see how it does, then worry if there is a problem, Finn rifles may sometimes have frost in the bore, but rarely will they fail to shoot, and shoot well. The M28/30 is not a rifle found very often in any condition, you are lucky to have found such a nice one.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
