It's a 1933 Tula PE/PEM sniper captured by Finland. They swiped the optics and made a service rifle out of it. They left the holes the way they were and it has the original stock. There's a small half round on the stock where the turned down bolt would have rested - looks like it's cut that way and not just a compression mark. The straight bolt is mixed, but it's correctly numbered to the rifle on the knob!
Of interest are the tiny numbers below the serial number. They show up on the left of the barrel as well - perhaps scope numbers...?? I've never seen that style of numbering - anyone else? There is no SP or SN sniper designation above the Tula star. The last "3" on the date is struck deeper than the other numbers, so perhaps it was numbered afterwards.
I've seen reproduction PE/PEM scope mounts and I could probably re-scope this sniper, but I don't want to mess with the Finned bolt! I like it just the way it is!
BTW - it came from a collector who got it from CAI many years ago as a parts rifle because of "holes in the receiver".
