Look at this one

Post by gurn »

Someone sent me this pic of this one from someone he knows that is selling what he called a 91/30 but I can tell its an M91 but the distance between the hand-guard and the rear sight seems a bit long. Kind of looks odd to me. What do you all think? They are going to try and get me more pics before I make the 100+ mile trip for it. Price is right.

Yes it is an m91. Easy to tell because the front sling slot is centered between the handguard clamps.

Doesn't look odd to me, looks drop dead gorgeous! Very curious what it's got written on the barrel shank! Hard to tell for sure from the small picture but looks to be in great shape! Buy it and post LOTS of pictures!!

Look at the ones here http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinIDII.htm May be its just the way the pic is taken but it looks wider between the sight and handguard band. May be its just me.

Oh gurn, just go and buy it and post some pictures. That is a M-91. Even I know that, so do you. Quit being a tease and hurry up and post some pictures. Judi and her Mosin's ;mywink;

Looks like one of Steve's rifles that was purchased and is now up for sale again. ? . I've seen this one before and this is a stock picture. Better find out what the price is before you jump in the car. :D

Boy that would really burn me up if the guy did just have a 91/30 and grabbed a random pic off the net. I will get more info.

I didn't really mean "stock" picture as when companies supply a stock picture for the crate of Mosins they are trying to unload. What I mean is this is one of Steve Eisel's pictures of a rifle he either has up for sale or has sold already. So, either someone is using this picture to lure you in or someone bought this from Steve and is reselling it. That is a little hard to believe since I would think that most guys that buy from him know what they are buying. Proceed with caution...

+1. I've seen that happen. Guy was selling a 91/30 but used an m91 reference photo in his ad. Luckily his written description was accurate.

I love this place. Good information is what keeps so many of us from getting in trouble in this "newer" market. I keep learning every time I read a post like this one. Nice going. :thumbsup:

You were right, he used a pic off the net. Said his camera wasn't working and made a drawing of the receiver for me . So glad I didn't waste my time with that drive. $175 for a super common,pass. Again, thanks!

A long drive to get a rare M91 and being handed a $120 1943 Izhevsk 91/30 refurb that I could have bought two miles from home....yea....this is why murder for " just because" isn't legal yet.

That is a great money saver move on your part! I kind of thought that picture looked awfully familiar! This is a case of when a seller doesn't really know what he is selling it can go either way. You can gamble and go look at it or not and save yourself money and time. Sometimes when a seller has no idea what he is selling you win and get a great buy and then there are the other times.
