Mossberg 144US ... cleaned up not to badly :)

Post by yatzee982 »

I recently got the chance to purchase a Mossberg 144US to go along with my 44US('s). I really like the Mossberg .22's and have been collecting them for not a very long time ...bout 1 - 2 years. THe bolt action military trainers are just a great piece of history that is still available for a reasonable price. I have a '54 SA M1 Garand and I may pick up a carbine or 03A3 also but those are pretty serious purchases ... $800+ For not a huge amount of money these trainers are a very attainable and I finally got to pick up a 144US from GB. I consider myself very lucky indeed as the seller worked with me on the price $299 BIN down to $270+$30 shipping to my door so for $300 I own it now... as per the usual :worthless:
here are the pics from the GB listing first. Then what a little dish soap+bottled water and mineral spirit clean up along with 4 coats of good paste wax can do ... enjoy

I don't think my grandfather, who was a Army Air Corp Aviator Instructor, used this rifle when he went through basic. I think he probably used one of the 44US's ... but I like to think maybe my other grandfather that was a Navy Doctor in the Korean War did. Everytime I shoot them I wonder if they may have handled the same rifle... Happy Veterans Day !

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
