I bought two for $89 last year. Considering all the price changes it will be interesting to see what they do this year. I'm guessing $119.

My local Dunhams has several Mosin Nagants. I went there a week ago to look at some and because of store policy they all have trigger locks installed. I asked the clerk if he could remove the lock so I could remove the bolt to inspect the bore, he would not. I asked to speak to the manager explaining the to inspect a used firearm, like to check the bolts safety the trigger lock impedes doing so. The manager stated they don't remove the locks even after purchase, they give you a key so you can do so once home. Needless to say I won't be buying any firearms from Dunhams.
I next went to a local Gander Mountain and again they have trigger locks on all their Mosins. But when asked they gladly removed the lock so I could check the safety then pull remove the bolt to check bore condition.

I went over there today. They now have locks on them. The guy I talked to said they were getting lots of complaints after I indicated that many guys across the country were a little upset with Dunham's. I mean DUNHAM'S IF YOUR LISTENING, WE WON'T BUY THESE RIFLES IF WE CAN'T INSPECT THE BARREL AND RECEIVER - PERIOD.

He hadn't seen the Black Friday adv yet so he didn't have any information on that. I told him, no problem, I won't be back.

I'm not a fan of Dunham's myself lately... I can tell you that they should be $129.99 at Gander Mountain on Black Friday...

If the part of the Midwest you'll be in includes Ohio PM me. There are 4 stores within a 40 mile radius of Columbus that usually have 60-70 Mosins on display between them.

Dunham's doesn't accept any form of FFL. You'll have to do a NICS check, don't know how that works for an out of state resident.

I went there today and they had a good selection. Now Just because they have trigger locks on them, you can still look into the barrel with a bore light. Do you really need to check the safety? I've never seen one not work.

Well I didn't see any thing special there.. But if they go down to 89 bucks I'll get another one.

I've never used a safety on a Mosin. As far as checking the bore, I do it every time but it's kind of pointless with how much grease is in them.

Word to the wise too they often have decent prices on gun safes this time of the year so remember to check out the before and after prices to see if you are really getting a deal. I know it is much more pleasing for most of use to be buying a rifle but buying a safe is the much more responsible thing to do! ;mywink; Bill

Dunham's is just a Midwest sporting goods store with college aged kids behind the counter making minimum wage. They don't ship rifles and they don't do FFL transfers. I heard they will accept a CCW without a NICS but that may change soon.

Also having a FFL doesn't make you exempt. It's up to the seller as to whether or not they'll accept your FFL. The CMP doesn't accept FFLs, they are 100% NICS.

They are spreading out a bit as they are in WV, PA, and Maryland too. Their rules vary greatly from store to store and state to state so a check is always necessary. I can buy in Maryland no trouble at all but in PA they always have to be set straight before I can buy and they always say it is a corporate policy which it isn't. They will transfer guns from store to store if the clerk knows how to do it which frankly is rare. I had to get a manager of the store to call corporate to figure out how to do it. They pay minimum wage and the have minimally intelligent people who could care less working for what they deserve it seems. Bill
