New Ruger
Recently picked up a new Ruger MkIII target pistol. I can't wait to get out to test it out.

Be still my beating heart! Dayum that is some serious eye candy. Close to 500.00 bucks too if my memory serves me correctly. I spied one of them with those sexy grips the other day at Gander Mountain. Oh yeah, you got it going on now!8-)8-)8-):P

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Actually, MSRP is $509 on the Ruger website. I got it at a LGS for $409 + tax. No complaints on that price.bunkysdad wrote:Be still my beating heart! Dayum that is some serious eye candy. Re: New Ruger
Went to the range today, put 500+ rounds through it of varying brands.
Only had one feed issue and a grip screw fell out. Put the screw back
in when I got home and added some Loctite and checked the others.
The feed issue just squished the head of the bullet and put about 95%
of the round in the chamber. Ejected it and fired it later with no problems.
All in all, I was very happy with the performance of it!
Now for a good cleaning.

Here's the first 100 rounds at about 20 feet, before adjusting the sights.

Re: New Ruger
It sounds like you had my kind of fun. Back when I was just barely old enough to buy a pistol I bought a Ruger MkII and there is no telling how many bricks of 22's I ran through it. I could buy a brick for about 10.00 back then.
Re: New Ruger
I was thinking about getting one of these, too.

Re: New Ruger
Wow thats a gorgeous pistol. I would love to get one someday to try out. Is it steel framed? The mk3 I saw in academy had a polymer frame. I would prefer steel myself. Looks great with the grips too

Re: New Ruger
Very nice. I have a MK 11 that I have had for many years. It hates any of the popular ammo. It loves Blazer and Eley.

Re: New Ruger
The Mk III 22/45 is the same action/barrels but has the polymer frame. The regular Mk III has a metal frame along with a few other differences.
There are lots of variations of both models. I really wanted something that would go through any ammo that you could think to feed it and this
is the best choice that I found. I also thought about the Ruger SR22 but I liked the larger size of this one.

Nice gun, love the grips! Love the Ruger MarkII III or 22/45 pistols. A bit awkward to clean, but great shooters.

Re: New Ruger
Since I started out on a Mark II thirty years ago or a little more I get a sense of nostalgia when I shoot one. That is why I was excited when my friend offered me his wife's granddad's early 60's Standard Pistol. It dates before the MkI and MkII upgrades, and has a few outdated features, namely only a 9 rd mag and no bolt hold-open on last shot, but dang it shoots so good. It was made in 62.
