22 mag too. I don't own a 22 mag anything yet. I like that round too. I own 22 let and and a couple of 17 hmr's, but no 22 mag. Are you gonna scope it? I have a decent rimfire scope just waiting. And waiting. And.......

My wife has a Heritage convertible. Other than that this is my first mag. It made sense to get the LR since my 10/22 mags would have worked. But now I get to shop
I don't scope my LR's but I think I will on this one. Looking at a Weaver, Nikon or Redfield.
Of course they didn't have any ammo. So I stopped at Wally World. No mag but I got 2 boxes (225) of LR. So it wasn't a wasted side trip.

I just realized I never posted a pic. .22 mag. Got the scope bases already and they finally had extra mags in stock so I got one of those ordered. Still looking at Weaver and Vortex as possible scopes.

Very nice! I ended up ordering a Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 for my Izhmash in .22wmr. It's supposed to arrive next Saturday if the UPS tracking is to be believed this time of year. I can't wait. Let us know how she shoots.

Buckeye, I finally was able to see 2 of these in 22lr the other day at Gander. They had the long barrel and the shorter barrel youth model. I like the longer length on this one. They were 299.00 & I think Rongo said Walmart is something like 269.00 or something.
TH, I am looking forward to seeing that Banner when you get it. It's gonna take some talk mounts.

Walmart does not carry it... Yet. I'm holding off on getting one until our next Modular reset with the hope they will have one either in store or as an option in the special order Catalog.bunkysdad wrote:Buckeye, I finally was able to see 2 of these in 22lr the other day at Gander. Re: Found my next purchase... Ruger American Rimfire.
Something that is really neat about this new Ruger is the fact that the butt stock is changable and comes with both stocks.( high and low cheek profile). Well the stocks are also available as parts options for cheap. So if you buy the youth model with the shorter length of pull stock, then order a butt stock in the adult size, then you have a cool adult carbine. You could also create a youth long barrel rifle. I gotta get me one soon. 259.00 is the best price I have heard of yet. Gash, have you ever bought from Buds Gunshop? They have good prices and free shipping, but I wonder if they have any further discounts for a FFL01 like yourself?

Man I am just thinking how cool a bolt action 22 magnum carbine would be? I think the long rifle round would burn up it's powder in the short barrel, but I don't know about the magnum.

Oh, give em time and they will make a stainless model. And a 17hmr, but I don't know what you want to do with the rifle, so I don't know if your thinking was wrong. Are you gonna hunt with it, and if so what are you going to hunt? Are you going to shoot paper targets, or plink around out in the pasture at cans?

Re: Found my next purchase... Ruger American Rimfire.
If Ammo cost isn't a concern I would think that the magnum would be a hoot. Even shooting targets it still would be great fun at 100 yards. I have a little inexpensive bolt action 17 hmr and that rascal is really cool. They took a 22 magnum case, and necked it down to .17 caliber, with bullet weight choices of 17 gr and 20 gr, and most recently a 15.5 gr! The holes are hard to see!:P
The Nikon Scopes are really nice. I have one on my single shot .223 and it is just so clear. I like it very much.

Scored a scope at Cabelas. It's their branded one specific to a 22 mag. I was looking at some others but it was half off today so I hit the submit order button. For $50 I will give it a try.
