Good to be back!
Good to be back!
I wanted to thank whomever made this forum possible for the general email invite. I was a member of the other forum and absolutely loved collecting Mosin-Nagants, but as way crossed onto way, I slowly got out of the hobby. The past few weeks I've been taking the rifles out of their locks and giving them a good cleaning. I soon re-realized that I loved tinkering with these pieces of history. I took out a 91/59 to the range for a few rounds (hadn't fired one off in almost three years!) and found myself addicted again. It's a great hobby and I am glad a new forum has been created to celebrate the history and affection for these old battle rifles. Heck, I may even look to buy another one soon...who knows (I'm thinking the $59 Aztec "fresh from the crate" and Century Arms $15 m38 "gunsmith" specials don't exist anymore...prices have gone up a bit in the past few years). Anyway, good to be back. Thank you!!! Ken

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Welcome aboard. I hope you enjoy hanging around. We always like range reports too. Pictures from the range of the gun safe are encouraged. By the way what type of ammo are you using in the 91/59?
Re: Good to be back!
I'm using standard Czech silvertip because I have three tins of it still around. I clean out every rifle with the ammonia treatment regardless of corrosive or non-corrosive ammo. Are people using a better types to send through the barrels these days? (That's how long I've been away from these).

I was shooting Czech silvertip last weekend. Some of my rifles like it, some don't.

I didn't even know that Bob was closing the old forum. Glad I found the new one and glad to see some of the members from the other forum.
Howdy guys! I'm still an active shooter of military C&R firearms, but not so much of a collector after losing my good paying job and now working for a greatly reduced income. I had to put my collecting on hold but haven't had to resort to selling any of my guns.
