“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis

Build it .
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Agreed. Get some IWD wood for it and finish her out. Looks like most of the work is already done. Well, I'm assuming since I can't see into the receiver..

I don't know anything about that platform yet, I'm just about finished with my first AR build and halfway thru a second then that's what's next if I don't buy a Garand or a Mosin sniper.

Romanian. I am fixing it for a friend. Someone botched a muzzle brake job, and it needs a new crown. I got to looking at it and wondered what I would do with it if it were mine. Then I thought, "Yeah. I'll ask the peanut gallery".dolk wrote:Where did you get that?

I built a Hungarian AMD-65 kit into a legal registered semi-auto handgun. Lot's of fun.
On Facebook? Check out the non-sporter preservationist group at: OOOPS. Deleted by Facebook because it's evil to even discuss collectible firearms on social media these days.

Erik,
I have some parts I could donate and send your way. Maybe we could build one up from donations? I've got the wood and grip. PM me.

I would finish it with wood.

Re: What would you do with this?
I think I would, since it is a Romanian, try to find some near original Romanian wood and put her in that.

Re: What would you do with this?
I really appreciate that Mark, but this was just a theoretical question. This AK belongs to my buddy. I am just going to recrown it, after he and another guy screwed up a muzzle brake install. I was just curious to see what ideas the members would come up with.Hlavinka wrote:Erik,

Re: What would you do with this?
If it didn't have it all ready, a G2 double hook trigger or if I felt rich, an adjustable Red Star trigger group. I'd probably just put the slant brake back on it.
Find a nice NATO length style butt stock, and reuse the original Romanian wood or at least something laminated.
With money remaining, some nice Yugoslavian mags would be on order.
I would like to find either a Bulgarian purple set or a Romanian stock set take off cheap to try on one of my MAK 90s. I don't know why I like the Bulgarian purple Ak set, it does look cool.
Heck, anything would be better than the factory thumbhole stock

I said I was an addict. I didn't say I had a problem.

In that case put it back together and shoot the crap out of it. That's what AK's are for!millman wrote:I really appreciate that Mark, but this was just a theoretical question.
