M44

Post by Meena »

I was looking into getting a M44 from J&G Sales and they have an option for $50 to get a Tula. Is this worth it? I didnt think there was as many Tula M44s? Just another novice question probably. Thanks.

I wouldn't pay $300.00 Plus other fees for a Molot rifle which believe these to be.

There are precious few options for buying refurbished Mosin Nagants, these days. Molot, or not, where else are you going to find a Tula M44 on the primary market?

$300 is on the low end of pricing for ones that are selling between collectors on the secondary market. If you want the Tula, then by all means, grab it. It might not be available a week, a month, a year from now.
No words of wisdom come to mind at this time....

As it happens, I have a Molot M44 that is a '44 Tula. If you want a cool shooter, I say go for it. As a collectable, its kind of unknown territory at this point, as what, if anything, Molot does to the guns they are shipping is unknown. I will say that no one would look at my M44 and accuse it of being recently refurbished.

I know a guy, I could take the cleanest refurb I have, hand it to him and leave the room, come back in 20 minutes and it would look worse than that. As a rule we do not trust him to handle firearms.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Well I went ahead and ordered a M44 from J&G. I paid the extra $50 for a Tula so a total of $250. I will let you all know how she looks when I get it. Oh ya I also went ahead and threw in a Type 53. Figured for $99 why not!

If you plan to shoot them much, I suggest picking up a Limbsaver slip on butt pad. Your shoulder will thank you!

Over the years my US of MC shooting coat has shrunk several sizes to too small, but the hats still fit:angry4:

I think it was the type of cotton they used back then...

O well textile products do need to be changed out owing to fading, etc. :bwink:
