I paid just under $250 for a Russian Izhevsk 1944 + $37 FFL fee.. I'd say if it's in good shape, matching numbers and a good bore/function check then you can't loose at that price.

BUY IT!

Had it been me finding a Hungarian M44 at a LGS, at that price, the thread would read "Look at what I just scored!). I hope you are on the way to the store as I write this:-)

I decided to pass on the carbine. All is not lost though during our conversation he said he may possible have a 1891 for sale. When i have some free time he invited me to see his collection and possible make a deal.

Welcome aboard and let us know if you get the M91
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Keep us posted. The price was decent on the Hungarian, but not rock bottom. But as for not buying it, did you see something you didn't like, or was it the chance to buy the M91 that made you wait?

I think the price for that hungarian is about average. I paid similar price for my two.

Ragtop, that is always the way it is it seems. That would be a good one for layaway. I found a good deal on my Hungarian m44 on Gunbroker. It was 125.00 + shipping. It didn't have a bayonet or it might have got more bidders.
