Oh myI am sorry di not mean to get my smelly feet near MY new Mosin. I was so excited to take pictures...If I put the Bayonet on my 1927 Mosins. The rifle and bayonet are taller then me. That why everyone makes fun of me. I am only ....4'11" next one call me shorty or red gets a kick in the :devil2:

Well, I always have $500 & Id's in my shoe when I run and my Hi-Point n my hip. People were looking like what is she doing. Taking off her shoe. I had to take my Hi-Point out ( my holster) as it was poking me in the ribs when I sat down. So I laid it next to me.

Yes, that was a para-trooper m-1 .30 cal carbine metal stock. The guy said, ..words like."..He took the .30 cal cabine, ." buyer" said it was a para-trooper... "seller" said ... I did not have a clip for the bullets, he bought it anyhow, thought I'd be stuck with it....no bring backs...."

Who every posted the Respect thread thanks...:D

Tonite,...Phone rings....Tina.....Judi, lets go get some dinner and do some window shopping....

Me......Naw, Guess what I bought today..

Tina cuts me off....Judi if you bought any more gun stuff I am hanging up......

Tina......Judi......Now they make mummys of them things, Judi those people must be some cult, that is sick... .... :pointleft:

me.......why don't you stop by....

Tina.......No, I'll call Sunday..bye... :popgun:

So I ordered a pizza and am sitting with my five dogs, waiting for all my friends here to tell me about my find....Hope JYD thinks I aced this one... But really the price was OK ? Really all cover with man re-pellent, works on women too. I never seen it this thick.

I should have asked him if he had any more....I would have carried them all home ...better not mess with these tiny toes.

Oh,...they sold the safe $500 .....You guys should send your wifes out to look art them estate sales....I will never pass one again, I also will asak if they have any others too,...See guys I am learning this Mosin hobby.

My whole house, even the dogs smell like cosmoline, well maybe the smell will make me sleep good...oopps pizza is here,I am on line if you have question.

Anyone else for keeping it wrapped. Is that why they call this mummuied?

Thanks, Judi and her Mosin's ;mywink;

Looks like the one I bought back in '94, only mine had been cleaned off, then the guy dropped dead before ever shooting it and I bought it from the estate sale.

Congratulations on the fantastic find! I'm with the open it and clean it group.
I know that I couldn't keep it under wraps. I'd have to be able to play with it.

Were they sure that the safe was empty? Could have been some nice finds in there too!
Enjoy your new acquisition!

Did not mean to poke fun. You always use the soap box and then I saw the stand in the photos and thought it went well together. btw my auctioneer in Columbus is shorter than you.

You got a good deal. I was thinking keep it wrapped but after reading the thoughts of bunkysdad I say rip it open and take more pics. How many people get to open that type of deal? I haven't and I'd bet most here haven't. JYD probably got tired of opening and cleaning them and just threw them all in an underground vault though, so he doesn't count.

Judi ultimately it's your choice to unwrap it or not. Everyone has different reason's for collecting and you have to do what makes you happy. Yes it would be worth more in unwrapped condition. How much? Who knows. Yes it was a great find and you did great. These are going for $200 and up now and that's before taxes, shipping and transfer fees. Plus it's a 1946. Not the most common year.

The safe could have had Jimmy Hoffa in it then there would have been another mummy wrapped item at the sale. :big shock: :Ha: If you do unwrap it be sure and save the box and wrapping to keep with it. Just in case you sell it some day it might help bring more.

I did not clean the m44, it was done by the owner who had it before me, then he died and I ended up with the rifle. The MK2 is not for sale, there are many things in the vaults, only the Shadow knows what :)

If you have another one to shoot then leave this one packed. You bought it right, and it will keep nicely in the grease.

I be willing to bet you dollars to donuts (what the heck does that even mean?) That if this was properly listed on Gunbroker, with great pictures, it would bring 3 to 5 times what you paid for it, if not more. If I wasn't gonna unwrap it then I would have to hunt down one that was like Jim's in the above picture and own the pair.

I bet you are right. I haven't even seen a mummy wrapped one for sale in a long time. Could go for big bucks for sure.

I have never seen a Mosin wrapped like that. The cardboard and the paper looks to me like the paper that lines the crates that the rifles come in for importing. I am of the belief that someone didn't want to clean the grease off and just wrapped it up with the liner paper to keep from getting grease on everything. I don't think that cleaning it would add or detract from the value. Is it a laminate? Inquiring minds want to know. I also have this picture in my mind of a you in jogging togs doing the happy dance in circles with a huge smile on your face with a greasy thing over your head and a pistol on your hip dance5 dance5

No there were some that came in the wrapper back in the day. I remember not ordering one and regretting it every since. Even says "in wrapper" on the label.
