Walmart pickup

Post by ponycarman »

Found this on the clearance rack at walmart. I've been wanting to grab one for a while to increase my airgun collection. They are fun and easy to modify from what I hear. Should be fun :)

It's basically a crosman 1377. I would like to turn it into a little .22 carbine. Would make a fun little self powered rifle.

I have one of those. It is my second actually. I had one as a kid. They are great mouse and starling medicine. I love the fact that you don't have to buy those damn CO2 cartridges for these.

That is what has been attracting me to the pump and break barrels so much. No external stuff needed other than the pellets. Just pump it up, add the pellets, and your good to go. I would still like to try a co2 rifle though. Sometimes I don't feel like pumping the rifle or pistol after each shot

I guess they would be. If you are getting small game with them. Ammo is cheap and easy to carry. I just like them becayse they are cheap to shoot, quiet, and I can keep practicing and getting trigger time in the back yard  . I have no idea why theseare being clearanced out though. I've seen them that way at a couple of local walmarts now. They are still being made as far as I know. Maybe they just aren't selling well with all the new "tactical" looking stuff.

Thanks guys. Been wanting to try it out. It was to late last night haha. It feels like a pretty sturdy airgun. There are a few parts that are plastic that would have been nice to be something more tough. But that gives me something to tinker with later. It feels nice in hand though. Feels very close to holding my buckmark.

Next on my airgun list is the red ryder :D . Never had one and been wanting one. Gonna get one and a pack of bb's for my brother-in-law. Should make a fun/gag gift for christmas. He is a senor in high school and in the national guard. Should be fun to see him open it

 nope. Still have yet to see any .22 at walmart or academy. The new palmetto state armory store had had tons each time I've been. No limit either :) . I consider this a rimfire substitute :D

Rat's, there is never just one or two, more like 20 you don't see.

Cool! Is that one of those doomsday kits?

I played with this one this evening. Got it sighted in as best as I could. The sights are pretty crude. Was hitting soda cans and water bottles at 40-50ft. It definately helps you work on the basics. If I jerked the trigger or didn't focus on aligning the sights it would almost surely miss. But you get it right it was pretty accurate off hand. Me likey :)

Yes it is. The rear sight can be turned so it is either a peep or notch sight. Pretty accurate little pellet gun.

Yep. I think I'm might tweak this to be more like your rifle. Would like it to be .22, have the stock, and maybe a but longer barrel. Should be a fun project  . The front sight on mine here isn't comeletely straight. Sits at a slight angle. Might try to straighten it a bit and dab on some orange paint to make it easier to see. I like the pump on your rifle. I've heard that style is easier to pump than the standard.

My boy and I would sit in the garage and shoot his red Ryder. So I wanted something for fun that could still take out critters. Cabelas had a sale on them and snagged it. The pump is easy and once I got it dialed in it shoots great.

This is a Crosman 130 from when I was a kid. It won't pump up any more. Does anyone know if they make repair kits for these old pistols?

I orginally wanted to one of the backpacker doomsday kits but there aren't any locally so I figured I could get one of these and play with it to make it how I wanted. I've been interested and still am interested in the 2400kt co2 powered rifles yoy can order from crosmans custom shop. Thought it would be neat to have a similar rifle that is self powered. Been wanting to try out a break action too. Haven't tried my hand at one yet. Got to get me a red ryder too. They look like a blast :)
