There could be 1000 reasons why he is selling them. The $400.00 price really isn't bad. Spam can of 440 + two rifles at $150.00 each = $400.00

" Matching' bayonets are just something the refurbish people thought would be cool. Holds no value and they were never originally matched to the rifles. "
This is not exactly true. The numbering of bayonets was not done for a cool factor. viewtopic.php?f=5&t=686
As to price, the bayonet being matched to the rifle would bring $20-$30 premium.

I have a 42 Tula that is matching save for the force-match on the mag floorplate and it did come with a matching bayonet, good to know.

Yes, Aztec arms back in the day was one importer who kept the bayonets matched with the rifles, there may have been other small outfits that did the same. It's a good deal considering he is tossing in $100 worth of ammo.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Big F***2**Deal
I was never issued a weapon in the US of the MC that had a matching serial number to the rifle
A bayonet is a knife or a variant thereof that has one intended purpose to stab or slash and/or both depending upon your training.
A matching s/n may be nice, but that's about it, as I would never pay more to get a forced s/n
It's your $$$ so spend it as you will.

Anyway... Less than 1/2 of my "number matched" bayonets fit anyway. No, they aren't just tight - there's no way that bayonet was ever on that rifle.
I thought it was pretty common knowledge that most of what we buy, with the exception of a very few, are forced matched. I like my rifle "matched" but wouldn't fall for paying a higher price for a matched vs. an unmatched. Actually, being un matched might mean something and at least deserve a closer look. Don't forget to that most of the EBLOC and Chinese carbines are not bolt matched and they sell like hotcakes. Reminds me of the rifle I saw for sale on one of the boards that was import marked Chinese but was clearly a Russian M-44 with a Chinese bolt. Don't know if it means anything but it is sort of cool - Importer screw up or who knows. Just the kind of unique trait I like to see.

You more than likely were never issued a Mosin in the "US of the MC" either, now were you? So it's not really relative.Joeinthehills wrote:Big F***2**Deal![]()

You need to remember that at the time these rifles were initially made they were fighting a totally different kind if war. The bayonets were issued to be used and not to just open MRE's. The fought a foot by foot war from trench to trench and back again. Many times without ammo.
