Barrett-Jackson of Guns?

Post by JoeR »

If any of you have hit the lotto check this auction out. It's about 4 hours from me not that I could play with those prices. Do a search using Mosin and you will see lots of 5-7 rifles, lots of "snipers" do a search on that word too. They call the SKS a modern gun same as an AK but we know better. The auction is so big it would take hours to look at every page. http://www.rockislandauction.com/home

Man do they have some awesome iron... :Drool3:

I think their low and highs are a tad high???? 900 for a m44? or a M38 and a high of 1200? No thanks

I clicked on the gun from the military collection and it said only one gun and then the low and high estimation for that gun so it was for just one gun. I did it for several of them and they are all way too high.

Very expensive.... No way I would pay that much for a run of the mill Mosin.

Speaking of BJ's. I know several of the auctioneers and ringmen. We got married in Vegas and one of them got us VIP passes and got on stage for the TV portion in 08.

I love watching B-J Scottsdale, it's like a car show on TV and the cast is guys with more $ than sense. I lust after a lot of cars but know better so I watch and marvel when the big dogs run while I set on the porch.

The biggest problem with these auctions is that someone will pay the outlandish prices and some tool will think "hmmmm..If they can get that much, why can't I?" and the next thing you know prices are creeping (or skyrocketing) up on everything.
Damn, I'll bet that's going to leave a mark! Probably hurt too!

Same thing happened with antique cars before the bubble burst, but even now prices are higher that they were before everybody went insane. A Hemi 'cuda is a nice car, but worth hundreds of thousands or a million two? I think not.

I watched a beautifully restored 68 Roadrunner go for 30k a week ago at Scottsdale and that guy got a decent deal.some go high and some go higher! They still have to add buyers fee on top of the bid.

As much as I like to watch B-J and drool over the cars, they have made daily driver cars go way up in price. People that have rusty cars that need a lot of money put it to them to look good again think they have a 5 figure car after watching them sell on TV for crazy money. They don't get the fact that some of those guys spent more on the resto than they get when they sell, they want space for new toys because $ isn't a problem for them. Even a 62 Impala has gone crazy, I like them a lot, Roadrunners are out of the question now that I have gotten into milsurps the same thing is happening. A few years ago when I got my C&R you could get an SKS for $159 and now it's doubled, the election caused that spike from fear of a ban on "assault rifles" . Things have changed for me so buying guns isn't going to happen for now, I'll just live through you guys and I can help spend your $.

Joe you're on a Mosin Nagant forum and they're still cheap. $79 isn't going to break the bank, lol. :D
