You can criticize my lifestyle all you want. 30 shmos in gas is a lot for me to go anywhere. Even if I could afford both of the guns. Out west it is not the same as in the east. Everything is spread out way more. Not sure how far Ashland is from you but after that it is a good bit distance to anything. I live in the middle of nowhere too. It is an hour or 2 to anywhere significant. 2 hours to Spokane or 3 1/2 hours to seattle and I am talking one way.

Rocket wrote: That's not the point. I don't lack it. Really, it's more the hassle. It's also about the total price. The gas represents 25% of the total purchase...so as a prudent steward I need to consider if it's still worth it. I just like to think of all the pieces of the puzzle.

I will say that both weapons are worth the price and the cost in fuel.

Whether you want to spend the money is your choice.

I think he is just counting the total cost of the purchase (which include shipping, gas, ect) which any of us do when deciding whether or not to make a purchase

I think you need to factor in a little positive persisting to justify the short trip. It will cost a little more still, but make it a gun buy AND lunch and get some good bbq. Every good road trip needs bbq!

Refinished stock, that extra cylinder is a $75 item alone, M38's are hard enough to find that the stock can be overlooked and shellac reapplied later.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

He is asking a price that together wouldn't buy you a M38 most places, what are you waiting for?

Ha ha that's how I convince my wife to do things, "Honey we could stop at (fill in the blank) on the way and have a nice lunch/dinner together." Works almost every time
