Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Neat :Drool1: , a real Ishapore Enfield

My other two Enfields were made in the same factory, RFI, and I guess would be the last of Enfield production, while not truly British, they are of British design and just as smooth and very accurate.

I have 3. A WWI era 1917 BSA no 1 mk III, a post war 1949 no 4 mk 1, and a 1947 no 5 jungle carbine. The jungle carbine shoots great, is all matching, but has some bubba issues. I was able to buy it so cheap that it is still a worthy candidate to put back into original condition. With some TLC it's future looks promising. Here is a few pics of what I am up against.

As you can see, the glass like poly finish and finger groove stock, and what looks like a drivers licence # are gonna keep me busy getting it back to correct condition.

That box of Cordite ammo was probably my favorite last minute gunshow find. Still on his table late on a Sunday and he let me have it for 15 bucks! I won't shoot it, but I sure want to.:P

Bunky here is a link that you might find interesting. A bit pricey for a buttstock but it would at least look more correct. Very nice rifle all the same. http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ad/527230.htm

I know this is cheesy but, I cannot find where I stored the photos of my one and only Enfield. She's a 1945, No 5 Jungle Carbine. Here is the link of an earlier post I made with pics: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2492&p=36020#p36020.

I truly need to take some new pics of all of my "toys",!!!!

I have a few to ad here. The one with the disc is really not an Enfield. It is an all handmade copy of a 1918 Enfield made in the Pakistani hill country in the Daraa region. Others are a BSA, Longbranch, Savage and Fazakerley.

I got my two, both no4 mk1's.. probably going to restore the sporter.. Maybe not.. I'm still not sure..

My ZF, which means it may not be safe to fire.. Or maybe someone just swapped out the buttstock.

Then I got this one for magazine, but now I'm thinking about restoring it.. Ohh the decisions.

GS , I picked up a stock set from Springfield Sporters a while back for a No.4. It was reasonably priced and turned a rifle just like your sporter into a real looker.

Thanks Jim. As a matter of fact I acquired another butt stock in original condition along with the carbine. I just didn't realize it was worth possibly 75.00! That is kind of my dilema, and why I have not done anything yet. The butt stock is dark brown, and not sure how to properly bring everything back to match properly. I don't know when r by whom the finger grooves were carved, but they fit my grip like a glove. So, for now I just enjoy shooting it occasionally.

I just checked them out, and I don't think they sell the while stock any more.. You can get the Butt stock, and the two upper hand guards, but not the lower.. I'm afraid to piece it together, cause I don't know if it could ever match..
