Lets see your British girls !!
Lets see your British girls !!
Thought it would be cool the other side of folks collectons. I'll start this off with a quite unusual piece. I was very fortunate to acquire this old girl from a fellow I met on another forum/ through GB. What you are seeing is a 1934 Enfield No.1 Mk III that was part of a small lot sold to the Iraqis. If memory serves me correctly the contract only numbered 34,000 rifles. This is old girl is 100% original and matching. Suffice it to say this one wasn't an import. And in the words of Forrest Gump, thats all I have to say about that. Here are a few pics.

Very nice !! And a nice stump, I might add. I have always wanted a Lithgow to add to my small British stable but have never had a nice enough/ reasonably priced example cross my path. I always seem to stumble on Bubba's work or a piece that the owner thinks is lined in gold..

Very cool SRV.
I love the Jungle girls. I have one as well. Mine is without the nosecap on the stock. It is the blonde one on the right. The other 2 and I have since parted ways.

A 1918 Enfield #1MKIII. All matching and original, with the added bonus of an Oster Gendarmerie mark, which denotes Austrian use after WW2. As a bonus I have a 1918 Sanderson Pattern 1907 bayonet to go with it.

Re: Lets see your British girls !!
Well here is another from the stable. I cant claim ownership on this one though, it was actually given to my daughter by a good friend of mine. What you are looking at is a 1918 L.S.A. Sht LE III Enfield that has been converted into a line throwing rifle. It is chambered in .410 . Another interesting feature is that it has New Zealand ownership marks. I ve seen many .410 Enfields and most have been Indian. Gonna go out on a limb and say this one is quite scarce. Here is a pic. [/font]

Nice !! You would be surprised how many Enfields have had that paint cleaned off by owners who didnt know what it was.. That one surely is a keeper.

Re: Lets see your British girls !!
My only true blue British rifle
almost no markings, but it has a very nice bore, and it passed the head space check
It was one I got in trade when I dumped a few commercial rifles I was not happy with or never shot.

Very nice Maltby No.4 you have there. The stock is in remarkably good shape.

Re: Lets see your British girls !!
I almost took it off myself, but fortunately did a little research and realized that it was supposed to be there. That and keeping with our preservationist train of thought here on the forum, I made the right decision, and left it the hell alone. I have a feeling that it was made too late in WW! to have seen the elephant, and that it was put into storage until it was given to the Austrians. That would explain it's remarkable condition. You have some beauties yourself. I really like that line thrower. Cool variation.ffeng31 wrote:Nice !! BTW my 1918 is quite the shooter. Here is a target pic with handloads.

Re: Lets see your British girls !!
Lots of nice Brits, wish I knew more about them, one rifle I never really got to know. I've researched the Ishapore 2A and 2A1 alot, never made it to this one
Sadly, I've never shot her either
Maltby, is that good or bad?? Here is the opposite side, I also have the spike style bayonet for it.

Re: Lets see your British girls !!
Maltby is simply the manufacturer. Neither good nor bad. You really should take it to the range. Nothing else cycles and shoots like an Enfield.. They are quite refined..
