Well from what I can tell may be real and may be a reproduction. Here is a real bolt. Notice how clean yours is compared to the way they were done in the 40's Look on the underside of the bolt arm and snap a picture of that. :ugeek: :ugeek:

Oh, I thought you had already posted that underside. Yeah I think it's a reproduction, but I am not the Judge and Jury on these.

I am not even close to being an expert...but it appears to be awfully smooth in the inside corner radius. Notice how Jumper's looks like it's been formed over in a vise? The one you pictured seems to be roll formed.

I hope its real though and someone with some experience can make the call.

im having a hard time getting a picture of the corner without all the shine... yours does look a lot rougher than mine... it fits perfect and the mark matches the bolt head.. maybe its a new handle on an old bolt....

Quick question...are you scoping a rifle? If you're doing a temp setup, then it shouldn't matter if it is a true sniper bolt. You're not trying to "sniperize" a Mosin, right? :?

If it is original it has been redone i think. Did you replace the whole bolt or just the bolt body? I would recheck head space for anything that i changed in the bolt but i have never sone that yet. Where did you get it at? buymilsurp?

The bolt that came with your rifle is the one that you will want then. Sniper bolts were on sniper rifles. Your's is a M91/30 if I remember correctly. Trying to change it is actually changing the history.

In all honesty, the PU Sniper bolt is kinda bothersome..... I mean, don't get me wrong, it's a great rifle. The trigger is like 4lbs light. but the bolt is kinda clumsy and the optics, as JYD would say, leave more to be desired. It's just there is so much history about them and the fact that I have yet to find a PE or a PEM Sniper rifle.

I'm glad you are seeing the light :) Each rifle is a piece of history and changing it or modifying it doesn't change history, but literally destroys it. Yeah, at the end of the day, these are just guns, rifles, weapons, whatever. They are made to shoot a bullet and nothing else. Well, you can poke holes with your bayonet too lol. But, if you think about where this rifle has been, what it has seen, heard, felt...then you can begin to respect it for what it is. You are literally holding a piece of history in your hands...and you have a responsibility to preserve it.

You won't want to "sniperize" the next one either. It will have a completely different story than the first one. I currently have 5 91/30s. But, when I look at them or hold them, I see entirely different stories. These rifles changed the world. We don't have the right to change them.

Besides, I think a sniper bolt would be a lot slower than a stock bolt :)

Good luck...

i will recheck headspace, though getting the extractor off will be a bitch... might be easier a second time.... i didnt really want to, but i was just being lazy... the more i f*** with it the more of a chance i could brake the extractor.. but i dont think its possible, i am very anal about my how i work on stuff... i am a mechanic after all..... you all seem very cool so far :D

If you had okie guages you would not have to take the extractor off. And i know they might break too, my luck it would happen to me. :D :D
