About 4 months ago I bought a nice new Snap On roll around tool cart. It is in the new flat black paint scheme and looks really cool. It will hold a ton of tools. I don't use it though. It just sits in the corner. Don't want to get grease on it yet.

I can't explain that as I've only got 22 Hex's, a M44, and 3 Finn's, and my 4th case of 880 rds arrived today    :grumpy:

I just don't have the physical space that JYD has to store of his :angry4:

Shoot them both to see which one is the better shooter. Then keep buying them and testing to see if you can better the last one.

Cleaned Them Up

Post by auctoris »

I don't know whether this is frowned upon (as I get the impression some on this forum like their Mosins rough), but I cleaned up the nicks on my Mosin stocks with wood stain markers.

I am very happy with the results. The stocks look like new. I know, if I want a new gun, go buy a new gun. But I like having really old guns that look new too. :D

NO, everyone has their own personal preference when it comes to what they collect. I collect everything, but I prefer the more issued looking rifles as they look the part of a historical relic more than most refurbs do. Others like unissued rifles only. All we ask is that talk of permanent alterations not be carried on here as this is a preservationist board. These markers are a cover up, they are not a permanent fix, at least not the ones I have seen. Furniture people use these to hide scratches, and hide is all they do, you can't fix a scratched shellac surface with a marking pen, only hide it.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
