H&R Leatherneck 22 Trainer
H&R Leatherneck 22 Trainer
I found one yesterday at a local gun shop that I like, but I am not sure its quite worth what they are asking. What's the going rate for an H&R Leatherneck 22 Trainer rifle in good shape? As far as I could tell it was original and intact. The bluing was almost gone, but the stock was in really good shape. I am thinking something in the $250 range, but they are wanting $400 for it. If anyone local to St. Louis is interested in it, pm me and i'll tell you where its at.

$400 sounds steep to me. Ask these guys. They will tell you for sure. http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/fo ... y.php?f=20

Re: H&R Leatherneck 22 Trainer
I can tell you all you would ever wanna know.... problem is you said "leatherneck". If the rifle infact says "leatherneck" on the barrel.... it is NOT a ww2 USMC trainer for the Reising sub-machingun.
You need to first establish what it is before we can establish its value.
The original trainer is model M65 and will NOT be labeled "leatherneck"
The later scaled down civilian versions were models 150, and 165 and were infact labeled Leatherneck.
Original M65 rifles will have a greenish parkerized military finish and should retain the Redfield #75 rear peeps with an m1 similar front.
I have all three.

Re: H&R Leatherneck 22 Trainer
It is definitely labeled leatherneck on the barrel. Thanks for the info. The price alone made it unappealing, but knowing its not a real trainer is a definite deal breaker.

Why don't you post up some of those rifles MCR? I have liked what you have shown us so far.

I stopped by and looked at this again today. Fake trainer or not it's a very cool 22, I doubt you could wear it out in 3 generations of shooting. If they would sell it for $250 I would still buy it.
