I have my factory 1911 mags and all the rest are Shooting star CM. Never had an issue.

Mike had an issue years back with an aftermarket mag for his 1911, it fell apart on him while he was packing it . I will have to ask him if he remembers the brand, but I know he replaced it with Colt magazines.

I had a MetalForm 8 rounder fly apart on me a few months ago. Floorplate welds shit the bed. The company replaced it no questions asked.

Seems to be a common thing with 1911's, with magazines that is (picky). I bought a used RIA M1911 and the gun is very very nice, love it. But the magazine that came with it was a Meggar and I emphasize was as it's in the trash can. Same basic problem you had. Rushed down to the local shop and bought a cheapie (I am cheap) McCormick Shooting Star. Works flawlessly. I think the only solution is when you find a magazine brand and model that works with your 1911, stick with it.

Thankfully haven't have any issues with my stock Taurus mags yet.

I bought 6 original Colt mags for my 1913 1911 Colt about 20 years ago and have never had a problem.

I have had good luck with Chip McCormick, and my favorite is my Wilson Combat mags, and factory mags work fine in my Series 80 Govt Model.

My friend did replace his cheap amg with a couple of Colts, since then no problems, and it's been many years.

Same here CM & WC are great for the series 80, Ofc, Commander, or Gov't mods.
Never had an issue w/Meggar in the Sigs in either 9 or 45.
