Another cold and snowy day in the Great Hoosier Nation, and as such it is time to do the anual cleaning and inspection of the gun collection, today its the SKS's and AK's.
The SKS's from left to right
Yugo M59/66 SKS, Yugo M59 SKS, Albanian SKS, Chinese pre-ban SKS, Chinese Model D SKS
This is the pride and joy of my SKS's, a numbers matching (except the stock) 1968 Albanian SKS. I found this one, along with 9 others, in a pawn shop a couple of miles from the house. As rare as these are I never would have dreamed to find 10 of them in a pawn shop. P.S. they still have 1 of them

Awesome collection! You truly need to add a Russian to that group! I have a 1980 Chinese with the "French Tickler" handguard, like yours. What year is yours?

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.

Very nice. Makes me wish I had grabbed one at the gun show, but I'm trying my damndest to limit myself to bolt action rifles.
I see you have one with the plastic handguard (French tickler I presume, lol). I ran into one of those at a local gunshop. I thought it was aftermarket or something. Shows what I know about SKS's.
You see in this world there are two kinds of people my friend, those with loaded guns... and those who dig. You dig.

Please tell me they didn't use hex recievers on them also...........................
I'm sure they did.You just haven't looked hard enough yet. You might luck into a sniper version.

The plastic handguard is completely stock, mine is still in cosmoline and every time I touch it I get some cosmo-goo all over.

I didn't even give that SKS a look because I had no idea some came with plastic handguards until your post.

True for sure or not, I have heard the Black are a replacement. I have a 1980 Norinco /26\ that has the french tickler. Bought it new in 1994 or 95.
It was built in 1980.
Oh, forgot. The plastic hand guard came in the later years of production. The 1979 and 1980 mostly had these. Some of the best built rifles with the best stock finish they ever sent here.
If the 44 Tula proves to be too difficult, you can get the 10th anniversary edition as a 54 Tula.
What? 54 isn't the 10th year? Of course it is. The SKS-45 is the model designation for the first prototype. So count on your fingers - 45, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 51, 53, 54. Yep, that's ten! Go get one!
