Best ersatz scope mount for SVT40

Post by stubbicatt »

I am not quite there yet, but I am considering adding the "notch" on my 1941 SVT40, and using a repro scope mount and a scope. I figure since I am making the modification to *my* rifle, I'll mark it in some conspicuous manner so as to not mislead anybody as to its provenance. It is a mixmaster anyways, so any diminution to its resale value is of secondary concern, and its collectibility is not really a concern at all...

So my question: if you know, which is the best source for the best constructed scope base for the SVT 40?

This is the wrong forum to be asking this question.
“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

This is positively not a preservation question, not for this board we do not condone the making of fake snipers for any reason .
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.
Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.
