My personal belief is that if Obama signs this treaty, he will make it harder for milsurp to acquire even without 2/3 senate's vote. So I'm buying it now just in case.

Lee makes a good die set, mine was under $40 new, but availability, or lack of might be driving the price up, Lee also has more than one type of die set, not all are the same price. Treaty or no, the sad fact is that when it comes to Mauser's there is very little left out there to be imported. The era of the Mauser ended 70 years ago, and even the latest stuff is 50+ years old. Good idea to stock up when you can because what little comes along will not last long with everybody owning a Mauser wanting some.

I bought 400rds of that Iranian 8mm from Samco and fired the first of it on Saturday. Shot 30-40 rds 4 duds and everyone other round had was a hangfire. I wouldn't waste my money on any more.

Well he sold me the die set and bullets for $150 shipped so I think that is fair. Does the Egyptian brass take special sized primers? I have a bunch of rifle primers already. Also, I have some powder but I do not know if I can use it . It is IMR 4198. I'm only going to be use this for plinking/target.

Worse case is that I have 1,000 rounds of brass, bullets and powder :D

Egyptian brass? Milsurp brass is berdan primed, this is for the most part considered not reloadable as the expense and difficulty involved are not worth the effort when boxer primed cases are available from Privi, or by reusing fired commercial brass. Berdan primers are what is found in all the Soviet surplus ammo, it is not a special primer, just different. A berdan primer is just a cup of metal with priming compound in it, the anvil portion is built into the case. Boxer primers incorporate the anvil into the primer cup as one unit. Berdan cases do not have a hole neatly in the middle of the primer pocket for the decapping pin of the reloading die to push out the spent primer as a Boxer case does. Instead they have two small holes at the side of the primer cup to direct the flash into the powder, but the decapping pin can't pass through. Berdan primers are also wider than boxer primers.

I bought 900 rounds of the Persian ammo with the expectation that it would have lots of problems, I don't care. The bullets are perfect for my French 8mm rifles, and I have thousands of good Turk pounds if I need to shoot the Mausers with perfect ammo.

I was also told you can convert 30-06 brass into 8mm brass. I'm too worried since I'm only will be using it for the range. I can always sell it if needed. Do these Egyptian rounds have hard primers? I will also be using this in my Mauser 98k along with the FN49. I know the FN49 will not be an issue and I will use this ammo to set up the gas setting.

I shot 1400 rounds of the Egyptian 8mm in my FN49, it was the ammo the rifle was designed to use and it functioned near perfectly. Every now and then there would be a misfire, but that was the exception, not the rule. Of course the ammo would be 20 years older now so things could have changed.

Wideners sent me an email bulletin late this afternoon. They got a shipment of Yugo 8mm sniper in. The good stuff. Everyone I know of with an 8mm that will handle it loves it. But, best make up your mind real fast or it may be gone! Most 8mm guys will snarf this up in large quantities. They are selling it by the 15 round box. It appears to be the 1990's stuff!

1 box of 15 is $9.00
60 boxes $8.50 per box or $510 It will fly off their shelves. Cheaper than AIM has for Prvi Commercial.
This Sniper stuff is premium Military ammo. And pretty damn new made stuff. It is only going to go higher I will guess.

There is a good deal of 8mm coming soon. I believe it to be Yugo. You may not find it unless you have a C&R. That's a hint.

Glad i stocked up on 8mm when i did a few years ago. I've only got three mausers but they can get hungry. I do still know a hole in the wall gun shop that i will be going by tomorrow that has plenty of 8mm. I will be getting more of it to have.

I invested heavily in the Turk ammo when it first came on the market, 3.2 cents a round, I couldn't shoot my .22's that cheap, I was buying it in 5000 round bunches. The UPS guy at the time claimed it was hauling all the heavy boxes that caused his permanent back disability :violin: I hauled the same heavy boxes into the shed myself and you don't hear me crying about my back.

When I bought my second Hakim in 2008 the guy and I had shook on the $250 price and I was walking away when he calls me to wait. He reaches in his van and hauls out a heavy box, 550 rounds of Yugo 8mm on the clips, and he just handed it to me saying this goes with the rifle! Even then 8mm was not cheap.

I picked up some Yugoslavian 8mm surplus that I ran through my K98. Stuff packs a punch. A noticeable kick increase compared to the Prvi Partizan. I got it for $8 a box. 15 per box. 1977 dated.

Go to "Wideners.com". I saw some really good 8 mm Mauser ammo there today for $9 for 15 rounds.

It comes out to be .56 a round not including shipping. Not a great price but then again, how many people have 8mm surplus Yugo ammo? I will pass on this. I will just have to be patient and hopefully find it somewhere else if I get lucky. I guess this brass is not reloadable either. Is any 8mm surplus ammo reloadable? I bought some 30-06 Greek ammo from CMP for .60 a round but at least I can reload them.
