Replacement laminate stock
Anyone know where the best place is to get a laminate replacement stock for a 91 30. I have a rifle that has a lot of stampings all over the wood of the stock the rifle came in and I was wanting to get another stock to use so that I can preserve all the markings on the original one. I plan on using this rifle at the range and I also like the look of the laminate stocks. Also what is the best way to preserve the original stock? Is there anything I can use on it to protect it but not damage any of the original finish?
Re: Replacement laminate stock
I have seen a few on Gun Broker and on occasion EBay. You might give Liberty a shout . They have replacement stocks. Who knows, they may have a laminate in the bunch.

Keep an eye on eBay and gunbroker.com. Best way to preserve that original finish is do nothing to it, be careful how you handle it, avoid bumping in into stuff, and most of all do not shoot the rifle so much that it gets too hot. 10 shots fast will heat that rifle to the point that oils can start to bubble up out of the wood, when that happens it will take the shellac off with it. Let the rifle cool between clips of ammo, do not "spray and pray", exercise fire control.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Yeah what he said! Most of all don't lend, give, or sell the stock to me because it will get used at the range! Bill

Yeah, me too. I'll use it but not abuse it.

I just handle them with care and that's enough.

Preserve the stock? If I had one like that (which i do
) I wouldn't throw it in a box to preserve it. I'd show it off at every opportunity. Like, it's not like you will be crawling around in the mud and guts with it, or will you?
