When you figure inflation, value of the dollar, and what the import sources are now charging your dealer the price has not gone up that much. Wait till OB care kicks in completely and the dealers have to provide a healthcare program or face large fines. I haven't checked lately what the lowest price I can get 6 or more from the wholesaler is lately, I guess will make a phone call if time allows Monday. Bill :o

Many things appear to be under value as time passes. They are still dollar for dollar the best buy in a shooting high powered rifle that ammo can be found for on todays market. Bill ;mywink;

Well, now we will see how many folks listened six years back when I said one day the gravy train would end, but these rifles while they are still under a C note and but as many as possible. Took a little bit longer than I expected it would, but not prices are getting were I expected they would go.

That ain't a type 53, it's a 1943 Soviet Izhevsk M44 trials rifle. The 1943 date isn't special on a 91/30, or M38, but it is on a M44 as this was a year when they only ran off a short batch of 50,000 or so for testing, they command a couple hundred bucks more than a 1944 date one would. It's also not a refurb, but appears to be an original issue rifle that's matching, this also makes it special as most M44 Soviet carbines are refurbs these days. But the big selling point is the faint SA stamped on the side indicating that this rifle was captured by Finland sometime late during the Continuation war, this, if it's legit, would make this a very rare and desirable rifle. Worth $1700? Not to me, no, this could also be a nice 1943 trials rifle brought home from the Korean war that someone has added a nice SA stamp to in order to boost the value. It is not impossible to fake an SA stamp, they are not complex markings, this rifle is definitely buyer beware . Other than that SA stamp I see nothing here I wouldn't see on a Balkan rifle, or a Korean bringhome, both nice rifles to find, but not at that price. No import mark also leads me to thing 1950-53 Korean war bringback.

You are right! I made a huge assumption and didn't look at all the pictures. As you say though, not at that price.

It's a very big risk buying something like this from pictures, I have bought rifles from Larry and Steve before, good people to deal with, but they would have no way of knowing what might have been done to this rifle last year, or ten years, or twenty years ago. I would hesitate greatly before dropping that kind of money on a maybe.

Just stopped by my local Dunhams, they have 4 Mosin's 91/30, the Dunhams in another town had 2 Mosin's Sunday. At $199 they may be sitting in the racks for a while.

They will sell them, just not to guys like me and you that are spoiled to the old prices. There are plenty of new first time milsurp buyers who will be plenty comfortable with a hi power rifle for 200 bucks.

Let them sit. Sooner or later the prices will have to go down so they can be sold.

AIM has 91/30's in stock for $119 and the hex's for $139. I guess they had some Triple Date MO's and DDR's in for an hour or so today at $169. I want to say the prices on their TD MO's went up $20 since the last time they had them in two weeks ago. Still not bad prices IMO.
