Picked this little gem up at the November 2012 OGCA meeting. It is a 1945 Izhevsk M38 carbine, all stamped matching , all Izhevsk parts, in a wartime hard wood M38 stock. 1945 was the final year of production of the M38 since the introduction of the M44 in 1943 had made it a redundant model. Less than 50,000 1945's are believed to have been produced. The rifle has had a light refurb at some point during it's life with a recoating of the stock with shellac and some bluing touch-up with the infamous russian black paint. The craftsmanship had started to return to these late war Mosin Nagants as evidenced by the finish machining on the reciever and the great trigger pull on this carbine, as good as some of my PU snipers.
