Russian Vs. Bulgarian Ammo

Post by rideandslidejim »

I have seen some ammo come on the market that will not specify Russian or Bulgarian silver tip. I have only shot Bulgarian and pretty well sighten in with it. If if Russian will there be a difference in the pattern .7.62x54R Russian or Bulgarian Surplus 148 grain Light Ball Silver Tip Ammo mfg 1970's - L

There are always differences when you swap from one type of ammo to another, even differences between lots of the same ammo. These differences are not big, most will never be notices when shooting a 70 year old milsurp at 100 yards. This is the sort of thing competition shooters and snipers would notice when using their types of weapons at long range. All the commie surplus I shot, even the Albanian, the deviations were an inch maybe, at 100 yards, some rifle never deviated at all.
Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

You can detect differences in one paper pack of ammo versus another out of the same can but like JYD says we will more than likely never even notice it. I mean I am by no means an army sniper and most of the rest of us are in the same catagory if we are man enough to admit it. Bill :o

Even on my best day I could never approach the skill level of a trained sniper  and my best day on the range was long ago.

Like the others said above, it will vary. Depends on what the rifle likes too. But overall the Russian surplus seems to be the universal load for these rifles. Try a small lot first of before you buy quantity.
