Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
Hello,
I am going to be placing an order extremely shortly for a 91/30 PU sniper from Molot USA. I will post a review and range report as soon as I can. I happen to be based in the same city where Molot USA's warehouse is.

I only travel through there to my Brother's house. He is in Fallon.
Oh, and notice Molot's mail address is a post office box in Walnut Creek, CA. I wonder why that is?....
I know why Nevada, no Calif taxes and easy to incorporate. I'll bet the owner lives here in Calif.
I don't think Molot America is the same company as Molot in Russia. Molot USA I think is a distributor (and maybe an importer) for Molot (Russia).

I think that is the case. Unfortunately, they will not ship directly to an FFL03 holder, and they do not have a store front, so I have to get the rifle sent to a local gun shop, then do a transfer.
Re: Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
When I ordered mine I thought it was coming from Calif. Then when I got the tracking info it showed coming from Reno, NV I got a little worried untill I looked things up and saw there warehouse was in Reno.
I am very happy with the one I got and hope you get a nice one.

They can't ship their new, "snipers, direct because they are not C&R eligible.

Not C&R? I hadn't realized that, but since I gave up the C&R I rarely pay attention to what is, or isn't C&R anymore. I suppose whatever new parts they use in these must disqualify them as antique.

Even the actual Ukranian repro's you can get on your 03 if you want to..
MOLOT USA decided not to ship to 03's, but that's their call, there's no law against it.

It's up to the company if they will ship to you direct with a C&R or not, Aim will ship it, Molot USA will not.

I think he bought one of the New sniper model Molot makes, not the ones made from 91/30's. There is a gun shop here that refused my C&R. Guess they wanted a fee for a NICS call, I never went back.

Actually, Molot America sells both the "Fake" version with a weird mount. And they also sell the "PU" version of the Mosin.
They don't sell any of them to a 03FFL holder.

MOLOT USA decided not to ship to 03's, but that's their call, there's no law against it.
Because the "new snipers" are not C&R eligable. Once a military surplus rifle is changed from it's configuration, it is no longer a C&R. So a C&R license will do you any good. These rifles have had a new type of mount on them and have been changed from their configuration. You are talking about the AIM or Classic snipers that came from Molot (Russia), not Molot America . Molot America is an American company here in the USA. AIM snipers came from Molot, a Russian company.
"Even the actual Ukranian repro's you can get on your 03 if you want to.."
"You may call them "original configuration", but I don't. They are "Fakes". But.....We are talking about the "Molot America" rifles in this thread.
MOLOT USA decided not to ship to 03's, but that's their call, there's no law against it.
Again, we are talking about the "Molot America" snipers here, not the Molot (from Russia) rifles. If we are talking about the "new snipers" with the new type mount, then they are not C&R eligible and it is not Molot Americas decision, it is the law.
Part of the problem with these Molot rifles is that Molot makes "Fakes" and also sells snipers they claim are real. The one's they claim are real do have real parts. Just who refurbished the parts and put them together is the question. The fakes are just that....Fakes.

Re: Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
i guess the confusion lays in the fact that they offer 2 scoped mosins; the refurb original sniper and the 'new' KO91/30 model;

i assumed he wants or bought an original, longcolt assumed he wants or bought a commercial recently built version
Read on other forums that they don't ship either the old or the new version to an 03.

I think that is because even though the rifle itself is C&R eligable they are importing them as modern rescoped hunting rifles, by doing that work they have modified a C&R rifle and it is no longer C&R. Still think these hunting rifles are collectible? Not me I am afraid I don't want another hunting rifle made overseas when I can get one from this country cheaper at times. I will not buy one and would give them only parts rifle value with no collectivity. I have been keeping quiet about this and sort of hopping they became legitimate but with what is surfacing here lately I will not support anything about them as collector pieces regardless of what is now put forward in defense of them. Hoped I wouldn't have to state this out in the open but here you go! Bill
Re: Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
What does that mean they come off different lines in the plant? We will never know for sure and I refuse to believe anything they will say in defense of them now. Re: Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
This Molot issue is becoming devisive. I would appreciate the experts going to the thread on my Molot PU sniper and please, point out the "repo" parts. If more and detailed pics are required, I will be happpy to take and post them.
I find it rather hard to swallow that a company in the Russian Federation would go to such trouble to fake and or decieve the public on the generally least expensive milsurp on the U.S. market. It costs more to make one from new tooling then for what they are sold for. I have yet to see one posted here or elsewhere with any, let alone an entire, newly made part or parts. This is really the same shinola that went on with collectors over the early small import marks on milsurp barrels in the 80's and 90's. "Oh, that has an import mark? its ruined, not worth as much, wouldn't have it as I am a purist" type nonsense. Then the billboard import marks showed up about 10 or so odd years ago. And the early import marks suddenly became far more acceptable too many.
Now we have a company in Russia proper, exporting Mosin rifles. For whatever reason, they appear to have to put there own markings on them, and probably to get around some local government buearocratic stupidity, not unlike our own import marks, eh? Marketed as hunting rifles you say? How is that any diffrent then all those magazine fed "sporters" we know as AR15, FAL, HK91, Cetme's, etc. etc. ?? Sometimes you gotta work as best you can through the Liberal B.S. restrictions.
I am a little shocked at some of the folks here, who I respect and admire as knowledgable experts in this field, and their reactions to Molot without having documented any proper evidence to support their suspicions.
So please, if you have proof positive of Molot fakery or trickery or whatever, by all means post up your facts, preferably with photographic evidence and put this subject to rest!
Thank you for listening.

Re: Soon to be new Molot 91/30 PU snipr owner
Rob I think what they're talking about when they refer to reproduction parts in regards to Molot is the complete reproduction M91/30 they make or as it's refered to the KO-91/30M. I don't think they're talking about the ones you and I have, the KO-91/30. Those are all correct parts and yes they are labled as hunting rifles for whatever reason but they have all correct parts. That's not the issue. Where they came from is the issue along with the M38s, the M44s and now the M91/30s. This is the reproduction http://www.molot-usa.com/product_info.p ... ucts_id/62
