M24 is a favorite,m27 and m28. Of course I have Russians ones that stick out not Finnish are m38 1899,m1959 sanitized, triple date,2 digit and 3 digit snipers. Hi, I bought three MN and got confused and sold them. Now I have 5 MN round receiver rifles. One is a 1943 combat period with rough metal finish & stock PATCH 1"x 6", left rear of receiver. I do NOT have a bayonette with it. On the plus side, it has matched no. on barrel, bolt, butt plate, and magazine. The barrel has a prefix(PO) ie PO9xx. My question is, with the rough metal and patch : do I shoot it, sell it or is it a collector?posting.php?mode=reply&f=5&t=12037#

Welcome to the board, you treat it as a collectible since it is, and you shoot it. Wartime expedient finish does not mean unsafe, they just didn't have time at that moment to do the final metal finish work, but they didn't cut back on the heat treatment or anything.

Hello all. Just checking out your forum. I have gotten hooked on Mosin's and own three right now. My latest is the m44 version. By adding a limb saver to the back, I can shoot these guns for long periods without beating my shoulder up. Just looking for more information on Mosin and what others are doing. Thanks!

Hi,
I am a new member and glad to see that this site is available to learn more about these great guns. I bought one for my son and one for myself a couple of years ago when the arrived in the US in a big way. We are huge fans of this rifle and we both have found that the Mosin has become our favorite rifle and my "go to" gun for deer hunting. In fact the last two deer I harvested were taken with this great rifle and it is a true joy to shoot. If I had to bug out and could only take one gun I would take my Mosin over my AR or any other rifle. It is such a robust survival tool.
Thanks,
Clayton
