VZ 24 with Lions Crest

Post by Ban-One »

This is one of my favorite Mausers...who am I kidding, they are all my favorite Mausers. This is a VZ 24 with a nice lions crest. The VZ 24 is a bit heavier and feels much more substantial than its K98K counterpart. The bolt cycles clean and easy and is as close to butter as a milsurp can get. The stock is in good condition with the usual character marks. The finish on the metal is well worn but everything is in tact and functions fine. Believe it or not I have yet to fire this one, I need to take it to the range and see what she can do.

Leave it as it is. The ages have been at work on it and man can only mar it.

Nice Rifle you got there. It took me a while to find one with a Lion Crest as well. I had passed on one and thought I would never find another. Don't worry, I haven't shot mine yet either............As a matter of fact, I think I hold the record for the most "untested" firearms. So says Millman..

My VZ was made for the Czechoslovakians and pulled from the line to fulfill a Romanian contract, but my bayonet is actually a Slovakian. As I understand it, it was made by the Slovak Republic, under German control. That is what the double cross means.

What I think is cool, is that my bayo seems to have score notches on it. The old mister that had this bayonet must have gotten 3 Russians, I assume.

I want to again thank forum member Pierce for this bayonet.

It means that it's Slovak made not Czech! Incidently, on the lions shield, the three hills that the cross is planted on signifies Slovakia.

The VZ24 I have is 8mm. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has some rifles in the closet that have not made it to the range yet.

Great photo's of your rifles everyone! I especially like the notches in that bayonet...very cool.
