The M44 is what I was originally wanting, saw Hickcok45 shooting one when I first started thinking about Mosins. Figured that would be a good one to start with.greydawg wrote:Hi, new Mosin owner with 91/30, M1944 and Chinese Type 53 so far. Don't know much but wanting to learn and have some fun with history.

Hi, I am Tony. I got 2 Mosin 91/30, one M44 and Finnish M39. Love mosins!
Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Just picked up my first 91/30 this afternoon. I cannot wait to get into learning how to break it down, clean it and put it back together. Then see what this bad boy can do. I have read endless reviews of what this rifle can do and looking forward to seeing it for myself. Serveral years ago I bought and preserved an M-1 Garand, I think that is what got me started on historical firearms, learning about them and where thay have been. I am looking forward to all the help I can get for ID'ing what the markings are and what they mean. I'll post pics soon. Thanks for making this forum.

What's the best way to remove the cosmoline from the rifle. I have heard so many different ways.

Hi everyone I'm here. I had a little trouble at first but I think it is due to being on AOL. I love the Russion stuff and have a really nice m44. I like reloading but have not reloaded yet for the m44 but I did get a load of 880 rds of Bulgarian from Sportsmans Guide yesterday from FedEx. I just ordered on Wed and it came on Sat. Very nice case with opener. It is dated 72 and very clean I am looking foreward to geting out and blasting away.

I wiped the stocks off with an old bath towel, and the metal I wiped off the heavy stuff, then got the rest with some bore solvent. No need to over think this, it's only grease, it wipes off. The stock finish is shellac, this is easily damaged by anything with alcohol in it, so always be careful with what you clean a Soviet stock with.JRayner4 wrote:What's the best way to remove the cosmoline from the rifle. Welcome to the board, good deal on the ammo, seems it's out of stock as quickly as it's in stock these days.biff+ wrote:Hi everyone I'm here. Hi! I have a 1943 Tula 91/30 with a hex receiver, a 1943 Tula M38, both original issue, and what appears to be (just got it yesterday afternoon) a re-arsenaled 91/30 - re-crowned barrel, looks great, still in cosmoline.
Look forward to participating.

Re: New Members, Make your first post here!
Hello & good morning I have been a Mosin Collector for 3 years (rather aggressive) I a target shoot for 100 yards and mostly a collector, I want one of each. I have over 50 Mosins. My intent for this forum is to learn and well as ask question that I have about certain rifles that I obtained. My prize Mosins are several 28/30's I have a 1933 first year,1935,1938 and 1940. M24 is a favorite,m27 and m28. Of course I have Russians ones that stick out not Finnish are m38 1899,m1959 sanitized, triple date,2 digit and 3 digit snipers. I hope to learn alot as I am new for forums.
