1959 ROMANIAN SKS

Post by Bareassmeagain »

Hello all. Id like to share some pictures of my 1959 Romanian SkS. The only thing that don't match is the stock which has no numbers at all. Some of the pics are of the rifel still in cosmoline. So if you smell something funny, well thats what it is. Like to thank my Buddy Double O also known to many as Old Outlaw for guiding me to this cool site. :P Lots of good info here with Dragos knowledge on the EX DDR's, :) Boomer's Russian sKs monthly sales average, well, I hope he will share with us here, :D Sheepdog's talent on how to control Old Outlaw when he get's out of hand. And last but not least The Moose, Also known as the Godfather of the SKS. 8-) He has probubly forgoten more about these fine specimens then ill ever know. But we keep learning, everyday. Hope you all Have a Merry Christmas. Thanks for looking BAMA

“Freedom is the right to tell people what they do not want to hear.” George Orwell, English novelist, essayist, and critic, 1903-1950

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

C. S. Lewis

Nice looker. Most Romanian stocks are Beech, with a very few Elms. I'm not sure which wood that one has???

And is that you, KK?

The Moose is omnipotent. 8-)

And I'd still be up in the air on that stock. It has some of the nice swirl features of beech, but the grain seems too distinctive.

A little Beech in the wrist, but darn Martin, that sure looks like Elm for the most part. I have one M59 that has a tiny sign of some swirl, but it is not Beech. That sure looks like a nice Elm to me. Course, if ole Boss Hog would quit fishing those stripers and clean his rifle, perhaps he could tell.
