Started reloading.....where to sell ammo?
Started reloading.....where to sell ammo?
I'm just starting to run my Dillon 550 as I bought a slew of Montana Gold 9mm and 45 bullets and a bulk Hornady .223 box of 6,000 the day after the election. I have some primers but a friend has enough powder and primers to "front me".
I'm done shooting .22 soon as I won't pay $900/5000.
I see that GunBroker is probably the biggest site online. I also found GunAuction but it seems that there are a lot of deadbeat buyers there that tie-up auctions for fun. And they have a really odd - "Anything Goes" - forum there.
Has anyone dealt with either site both buying and selling and could you recommend where to sell about 3,000 rounds of each caliber above?
Thanks in advance

Re: Started reloading.....where to sell ammo?
Personally I know a few reloaders, they won't sell the ammo they load, except maybe to very close friends, it's a real liability. If the ammo messes up someone weapon or damages the weapon and injures the shooter, you possibly could be held responsible, and it will be a real mess. Now on the other side, most shooters I know won't buy ammo from a random reloader due to the fact of trust or the unknown factors involved. Just my

Welcome to the board, what Greasemonkey said covers it. When I find reloaded ammo I break it down for components rather than shoot it. People do sell reloads online, or at shows, these people tend to be commercial operations that have built up a reputation, and have good insurance behind them. 3000 rounds is something to keep and shoot in your own weapons, commercial reloaders run 30-50,000 round lots on special machines. I made 4500 ,38 special reloads just for myself, should keep me busy for a bit, however half of the bunch are loaded slightly hot because I shoot them all in Ruger .357 mags. They would be pushing it for older .38 special revolvers, exactly why most shooters will not shoot unknown reloads.

Don't do it. Keep it for yourself. Besides, ammo is hard to find right now.

I would personally refuse to buy reloads from anyone... Including the big operations.

Re: Started reloading.....where to sell ammo?
Definitely not! If you want to make money sell the components. Sell the primers, or cases, or bullets, etc.... You will make as much anyway. Reload for personal benefit.
Re: Started reloading.....where to sell ammo?
Ditto from above: I only reload for myself and would not purchase reloads from anyone.
Re: Started reloading.....where to sell ammo?
You will need a couple type licenses if you want to mfg. ammo for sale and you may have to pay quarterly taxes as well.
Type 06 FFL - MANUFACTURER OF AMMUNITION FOR FIREARMS
other than ammunition for destructive devices or armor piercing ammunition. 18 U.S.C 923(a)(1)(C)
Fee: $30.00 for three (3) years. Application: ATF Form 7 (5310.12)
Also a Business License

I might be willing to buy some of those Hornady .223 projectiles if you wanted to part with some.
Re: Started reloading.....where to sell ammo?
The only reloads I use are my own or the ones I help load on my buddy's equipment. (I'm either using his tools or right there as we load) Some one I don't know? Not in my gun.

Not to mention the Federal Excise tax that you owe on every round of ammunition you manufactured and sold.
Good luck!~

We haven't heard from the original poster in a bit, he might have given up the idea.

Too dangerous. Even if you sold only perfect ammo someone might lie about it in order to sue you!

The original poster's last visit was three minutes after posting the topic, I guess he was hoping for 100 PM's from guys looking for ammo maybe?
